Farmers Markets Near You

Farmers markets are an integral part of the urban/farm linkage and have risen in popularity, mostly due to the growing consumer interest in obtaining fresh products directly from the farm. Farmers markets allow consumers to have access to locally grown, farm fresh produce, enables farmers the opportunity to develop a personal relationship with their customers, and cultivate consumer loyalty with the farmers who grows the produce.

Transpiration is defined as loss of water from a living plant. Transpiration is the second highest activity of plants, surpassed only by photosynthesis. To understand transpiration, the students need to have a basic understanding of leaf structure and plant organization.

Butterfly Garden

Brightly colored butterflies can be a welcome addition to your wildlife garden, not only because of their beauty, but also because of their usefulness in pollinating flowers.

Attracting butterflies involves incorporating plants that serve the needs of all life stages of the butterfly. The insects need places to lay eggs, food plants for their larvae, places to form chrysalides and nectar sources for adults.
