Nature's Classroom Institute, the nation's premier environmental education program, creates customized and individual experiences for every teacher and student.

November 2014

Please consider Nature’s Classroom Institute in your 2014 Year-End financial giving. Your gift will help hundreds of children experience learning in an innovative and exhilarating way. You could call this our year of firsts. Some students say “it was the first time I saw stars”; “it was the first time I held a chicken”; “this was the first time I have been in the woods at night”. Make this your first gift of financial support to NCI and support our mission. Give your 2014 year-end tax deductible contribution today!

NCI-Texas Welcomes First Land Lab Group

Fall 2014 has brought many firsts, but we are most excited about the addition of a Land Lab group to our Texas programs! The NCI Land Lab program was created by Executive Director Geoffrey Bishop and a group of Montessori schools that attend our Wisconsin EE program. Learn More!

What's Up Down Under?

In this lesson, students will gain awareness of the composition of prairie plants, learn about prairie plant adaptions and the complexities of prairie root systems.

Thankfulness Tree

Perfect craft project for your preschool or kindergarten class and takes very little time, or materials, to
prepare. Collect a brown paper bag, scissors, and some scraps of colored paper, and you’re ready to begin. With some creativity you can make the trees fit any season.

NCI staff is phenomenal. They know their stuff and work very well with the students. It is truly educational. NCI teachers integrated the 7th grade TEKS on human impact on watersheds, ecosystems and environment, as well as the knowledge of compost through their ORT programs at meals.

Check out our day field trip programs at our Bruceville TX site. Spring 2015 opportunities available! Don't miss out!

McKenzie is a student at The Montessori Academy of Arlington in Arlington TX. McKenzie's school attended NCI at our Bruceville TX pilot site in the spring.

Upon returning home from a week at NCI, McKenzie instituted an ORT measurement program at her family's home.

The NCI TX Education Director said that McKenzie must have started this project immediately when she got home as the photos showed her wearing the same outfit she let in!
