Upcoming Midwestern Montessori Conferences

Join us in March at the American Montessori Society 2016 Conference in Chicago as we build on our past and welcome the bright future of Montessori education. Our very own Geoffrey Bishop, NCI Executive Director, will be presenting at the AMS Conference.

March also features the Wisconsin Montessori Association "Children in Nature" Conference. Join the Wisconsin Montessori community for a weekend of networking, socializing, and inspiration.

Tea Time

Herbs can be used as culinary flavorings, medicine, insect and deer repellents, teas, and bath and massage oils, and some were worn as crowns or carried as bridal bouquets. Many people with knowledge of herbs use them to make these products, whether as part of large companies or small, private businesses.

Growing Herbs in the Classroom

January and February are perfect months to start herb gardens in the classroom. They will be ready for transplanting into the garden by spring, or may be given as Mother's Day gifts.

Herbs can be transplanted directly in the garden after the last frost in the spring. Nighttime temperatures need to be at least 60F and above.

The study finds broad similarity in the routes used by specific groups of species—vividly demonstrated by animated maps showing patterns of movement across the annual cycle.
