Producer Notes

Greetings Everyone,

With the summer moving into full swing The UO team would like to take a few moments and wish everyone in the US a happy upcoming 4th of July!

We are putting the final touches on Publish 109 and should have it on Test Center 1 by July 10th.  Please make sure you visit TC1 for a preview of new content coming for our 23rd Anniversary, Halloween Treasures event, Huntmaster's Challenge, and the Artisan Festival.  We would also like to thank everyone who has come onto TC to check out the new tools that will be available for our Event Moderators.  Keep an eye on for full details!

You've heard us talk quite a bit about tools in this publish, and how they will expand the abilities for our Event Moderators.  I would also like to take an opportunity to talk about another aspect of these tools that may have gone unmentioned.  Global, persistent events are one of the core features of the world of Ultima Online.  Traditionally global events often times include a combination of game mechanics such as quests, epic spawns, in-game fiction, and rewards.  Implementing these global events is an incredibly resource intensive process.  Because of this we are limited in the frequency by which we can have these events and also the variety at which we can tailor them.  With Publish 109 we have completely revamped how we implement global persistent events to ease that burden.  We are currently planning our first global event using these new tools in September, but anticipate a "soft opening" for dynamic events in the next few couple of months.  You can check out our event road map below and keep an eye on for updates on when we will be having soft events to prepare for the fall.

The Origin store is the only official site for purchasing UO codes and purchasing codes from a third party site is not advised.  Purchases from 3rd party sites are not supported and these codes can be considered to be fraudulent by EA.  With that being said we want to give everyone fair warning regarding buying codes from a 3rd party site.  If your account is flagged for buying codes from a 3rd party site it may result in your accounts being actioned.

I know we have said this many times but I want to bring it up again.  For those that would like to recover your old accounts and can't remember the information to retrieve it please send support the answers to the following questions.  Since character names are not unique we can not look up accounts by that specific information.  When asking for help with your accounts please remember not to give passwords.  If you think the account has a secret word attached to it please ask for the secret question and we will send you the hint.

Fall Global Event Roadmap

With the new tools coming in Publish 109 we are excited to release our Fall global event roadmap!  Keep an eye on for dates on these exciting events!

Question & Answer

1.   What’s the status of player tools for quests and such?

This was something we talked about as a potential future project at the 20th Anniversary Party.  At this time we have no plans to implement a more robust system to support player generated quests, however a number of tools in the game exist that allow you to put together some really exciting adventures!  The tools we are working on in Publish 109 will be used by the Dev Team to more easily implement persistent global events and by EMs to implement more exciting EM events!

2.    Can we reconsider dropping the high SDI spellbooks in other events?

Yes, we can use the spellbooks in a future event so they are available again.

3.  When will the current invasions be turned off?

The events will be turned off Mid July.

4.  Do you think we will ever get Pet Respec Tokens?

No, we do not have any plans to do repec tokens for pets.

5.  Why are the turn in chest for the grass tiles destroying my tiles?

Do not ever place a stack of tiles inside the chest.  The players that are redeeming 2016 tiles today do not have to take the grass tiles to the turn in chest to get them to stack.  Please understand there are 4 different types of grass tiles, only like tiles will stack with each other.  We tested this yesterday to make sure this was still the case.  If you take a bunch of tiles that are stacked together with loose tiles in your container also and hand them to the chest to get "fixed" it will destroy them, please be careful of placing unbroken items into the chest.

If you are having issues with your EA Origin purchase, follow this link to resolve the issue.

You may have noticed that Origin Store purchases made did not arrived as expected. The Origin Store enacts reviews on all transactions to safeguard against fraudulent purchases, and these reviews may take up to 72 hours. Unfortunately our Billing department is not able to expedite or circumvent this process. However, players who have questions or concerns regarding a store purchase can contact Origin Support for assistance using the below steps:
1)  Go here,
2)  Select topic* - select Orders
3)  Select issue*
4)  Click on "Select contact option"
5)  Sign in with your EA Account or click on "Get help from an advisor without logging in." if you're having trouble signing in.

We would also like to reiterate that the Origin store is the only guaranteed provider of codes for Ultima Online. The validity of a code purchased from a third-party seller (be it a friend, in-game acquaintance, or recommended site) cannot be guaranteed. Furthermore, any codes we find to have be fraudulently obtained will be disabled and an account that applies any of these codes will have that code removed from said account. This can result in the loss of game time, character slots, expansion access, Sovereigns (and the items purchased with them), in-game items and more. Please be advised that we cannot assist with any issues stemming from codes purchased via non-Origin means; you will be required to contact the vendor from which you purchased the code for further assistance.
