  • A Look Ahead

I. Traveling Merchant Event

The traveling merchants have finally returned to the realms!

Several items have had their prices reduced and you'll find never-before-sold loot including the Frozen Medal of HonorGem of the Harbinger, and some of the new Darkness Falls items!

The Merchants have set up shop in their usual areas, so be sure to pay them a visit  and stock up before they take their leave on May 4th!

In Albion: Just outside of gates of Castle Sauvage in Camelot Hills
In Midgard: Just outside of Svasud Faste in the Vale of Mularn

In Hibernia: Just outside of Druim Ligen in Connacht

What will you stock up on before they depart!?

II. 1.118 Patch Plan

The next patch is just around the corner, currently scheduled for late May/early June.

In 1.118 we have some exciting new content coming. We really can't wait to release the details to you... but you'll have to wait just a bit longer first!

We'll also have a pathing pass over the New Frontiers zones that is aimed at greatly reducing pet-pathing issues in the frontiers.

Classic world dungeon revamps continue as well. We're hoping to have the following dungeons done for the patch:
Albion:  Keltoi, Tepok's Mine
Midgard:  Cursed Tomb, Vendo Caverns
Hibernia: Spraggon Den, Koalinth Caverns

Finally, we are aiming to have the Casual Group finder improvements in 1.118.

Stay tuned for more details and updates on the Camelot Herald as we get closer to the patch's release!

III. The Realmwar

Carol, our Community Lead, has weekly updates on the status of the perpetual realmwar available on our facebook page. The action has been phenomenal in the frontiers with relics changing hands frequently and no one realm dominating.

Let the screenshots speak for themselves.

IV. Player Accolades and Remembrances

Dark Age of Camelot is a great game for many reasons but our favorite one is you: our community! Without you all we wouldn't have a game to enjoy, especially one that's lasted 13 and a half years and is still going strong.

With that, we'd like to take the time in this and each subsequent newsletter to congratulate any players who have been married or had a child recently and remember those who are sadly no longer with us.

Accolades
  • Gareth (Fazz) and his wife Leena were ecstatic to welcome Mollie Grace Fraser into the world on April 16th at a healthy 3.8kg/8.4lbs!
Condolences
  • At the request of Lawrence Bowman: His brother, James Bowman, whose main character was Vol Charriotcrafter, has passed away after a long illness. Our thoughts go out to James' friends and family.
  • An in-game march and memorial were held on 4/23/15 for Donvanscout, a German Albion player who died suddenly on 4/16/15. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.

If you would like to give congrats or remembrance to anyone please contact our Community Lead, Carol (Beibhinn), on the Postcount forums.

V. Knight Program and Internal Forums Application

As promised, we've launched our Knight Program and Internal Forums application. This application is for anyone interested in either becoming a Knight of the Roundtable or an internal forum member.

Before filling out the application, here are some descriptions of each position:

Knight of the Roundtable
  • Knights are a volunteer position that receives a comped account and involves signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement as they are generally the first to know about upcoming development plans.
  • Primarily, Knights will be expected to lead scheduled in-game events, host Q&As, create written or video guides, stream, and generally interface with the community in a positive, organizer role.
  • Secondarily, Knights are also expected to participate in internal forum discussions, bring game-related issues to developer attention, help test new changes on the Pendragon test-server, and to act in a mature, constructive manner whenever interfacing (within their capacity as a Knight) with each other, development, or the community.
  • There are currently 10 Knights and we are looking to grow their number to around 20 to start.
Internal Forum Member
  • Internal Forum members are a volunteers that generally contribute to and provide feedback to the developmental direction of the game.
  • Members are expected to be constructive and interact with each other in a positive manner, even when disagreements occur.
  • There are no expectations for internal board members to participate or run community events, but it's also not forbidden!
If either of those are of interest to you, please fill out an application!

VI. What's Coming

Mini-Tournaments
We're working with the Knights to organize a 5v5 tournament in the coming weeks. Our aim is to hold this on the Pendragon server where the ruleset will be changed to Free For All or PvP, meaning no realms! May the best group win. Prizes and timeline to be announced soon.

Camelot Loot
We have some pretty fantastic new logos in the works that we're going to put up for sale on T-shirts and other memorabilia starting in May! Keep your eyes on the Herald and here for more information on where to get them... and yes, this time they will ship internationally!

User Interface
Work on integrating Bobs UI continues. We're busy normalizing the look and layout of its windows and picking the 'default' state of the UI. You can expect to see the first batch of changes this summer!

New Account Center
We spoke last newsletter about the new Account Center coming: it's completely revamped from the ground up in look, user-flow, and features. That said, we want to launch this as smoothly as possible and so we've decided to take a few extra months to test it. We expect to roll it out this next fall and are excited to make returning to the game easier than ever.

Camelot Herald
Details on the Herald revamp and re-skin are being worked out as you read this. We're still aiming to have the new site up and running by the end of the year!
Please forward this to your DAOC curious friends and help get them into the game!
