Hello PTO members!

We're finally warming up after last week's freezing weather, and it's time to look forward to our remaining winter events and even start thinking about the spring! Now that we're into the new year, we're working toward increasing family involvement in PTO work as a means to further strengthen our wonderful community.

If you've never volunteered, come to a PTO meeting, or made a treat to contribute to teacher appreciation, we hope you will consider doing so soon.  Nearly all commitments are small and can work even for busy working parents. It's a really great way to get to know people, and also to give back to our sweet little school. If you ever have questions or concerns about the expectations and level of commitment involved in volunteering for something, please just reach out! We want to help eliminate any barriers or worries people might have.

If you're a regular volunteer, we hope you will invite another parent to join you on your next signup as a way to make them feel like they are part of the community in this way.  Thanks for all you do.

At Wednesday's Pride Assembly, New Franklin students presented some very sweet cards of gratitude to the PTO. All NFS parents/guardians and staff are members of the PTO. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered, donated, participated, baked, and coached so far this year as a way to support our kids. You are part of what makes this community so great.
Please join us at our next PTO meeting on Tuesday, March 14th from 6:30 - 7:30 in the NFS Library. We'll be sharing information about recent events and planning for the Italian Dinner E-School fundraiser, the upcoming auction, lawn fete, and a celebratory ice cream social to end the year. We will also have lots to share about school programs the PTO is helping to sponsor.
Do you have a relationship with any local businesses that could donate a gift certificate to the spring fundraising auction? We're looking for restaurants, retail, entertainment, travel, recreational activities, and more! Thank you for helping to support our wonderful school!

Want to run a tournament? The kids had a blast at our Fall Kickball Tournament, and we're hoping one or two of you will step up to run a tournament in the spring! There's also a winter 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the works if you'd like to join in on the planning, or you can take the lead on planning a spring tournament: wiffleball, dodgeball, kickball again or something else! It's not a big job. If you'd like to learn what's involved, check out nfspto.org/tournaments
Send us an email if you're interested! nfspto03801@gmail.com
From Principal Simons' email message:
"Here's the perfect excuse to clean out your child's bookcase! After a 3-year break, we are bringing back the Great Vacation Book Swap. Students will have the opportunity to "shop" carts of donated books to bring home and read over the vacation. We are looking for gently used books that your children are done with and ready to share. Donations can be dropped off at the office from now until February 22nd. If you have neighbors with middle school students, please spread the word so we can make sure we have options for our 4th and 5th graders"
Mark your calendars for March 9th, and head on over to Portsmouth Margarita's for dinner, and to support our school! Guaranteed you will run into lots of NFS families when you're there.
Margarita's will donate 20% of your bill to support New Franklin students and teachers! But be sure to tell them you are there to support NFS, or bring along this flyer on paper or save it to your phone:
