The annual 5th grade overnight trip to the Ecology School in Saco, Maine is one of the most special programs at NFS. The PTO is very proud to support that program each year by providing funding for a good portion of it so that it is financially accessible to all of our students. An easy way for you to do your part to help raise money for this trip is to support our 4th and 5th graders at at their pasta dinner fundraiser! Details below.
Another great way to support the school will be to participate in the online auction in April. We have so many amazing donations from local businesses! We'll reveal more exciting details about that soon!
The 4th and 5th graders are running a pasta dinner-to-go fundraiser to raise money for the 5th grade Ecology School trip! This trip is an amazing opportunity for our NFS students and is funded in large part by the PTO. Please help us to make this happen!
Your meals will be lovingly prepared, packaged, and served by 4th and 5th grade students and their families. Get your order in by the end of the day Wednesday for the dinner on March 23rd!
We loved seeing so many New Franklin families last night for our Community Dinner at Margarita's! We are so grateful to Margarita's and our other local restaurant partners for providing the opportunity for us to gather as a community and to raise some money to help our wonderful little school!
Please note: there was a mistake in Mrs. Simons's ParentSquare message last week. Tuesday's PTO meeting begins at 6:30pm (not 7:00). At the meeting, we will have a budget presentation from treasurer Kristen Crimmins and will brainstorm ideas for future spending. We will also discuss the 2023 t-shirt competition, the pasta dinner, and our big auction. Finally, we'll begin planning for teacher appreciation month and PTO board candidates for next year. Please join us in person or over Zoom. Babysitting will be provided in the gym!
In the spring we will be electing new board members for next school year. This time around we are specifically looking for a Vice President, and potentially other members depending on interest. Would you like to join the board of the PTO next year? It's a fun and rewarding way to give back to the school and connect with other parents and members of the community. It doesn't matter if you've never attended a PTO meeting, or haven't really been involved yet. Most of this year's board members were brand new, too! You are invited and welcome to throw your hat in the ring! Stay tuned for more information. In the meantime, if you have any questions about serving on the board, reach out to Emily Robichaud (this year's VP, next year's President).
The PTO is so excited to be sponsoring an NFS Author-in-Residence program. Nationally acclaimed poet and writer Matt Forrest Esenwine will spend two days (4/19-20) during National Poetry Month working with all New Franklin students. He will read and share the stories behind his books, talk to students about the writing process, and explain the importance of creativity & imagination. He will also lead the 4th grade in a poetry workshop. Thank you to everyone who has generously contributed to or volunteered for a PTO fundraiser this year! Without your help, programs like this could not happen.
Kindergarten registration for the 2023-24 school year is open! Please help spread the word to families who need to know.
Nurse Karen was able to use PTO funds to replenish her student supply closet and water bottle stock. Again, thank you for all who have donated to the PTO to support these needed items. They are already going to good use to keep our NFS students comfortable and dry, and Nurse Karen sends her thanks and appreciation!
