Gallery Shows in Scottsdale and Santa Fe

I'm excited that we have two gallery events opening today, one in Santa Fe and one in Scottsdale.  While the shows are primarily presented in a virtual context at the moment, the concepts are certainly of the moment.  It is our first Santa Fe gallery show with Kaa Folwell and Derek No-Sun Brown. Their contemporary pottery and paintings reflect their rich cultural history, yet have a modernistic style.  Their work is in the gallery, but due to upcoming COVID restrictions in New Mexico, the artists will not be in attendance.

Andrea Vargas will be premiering "Outlaw," a new collection of oil paintings focused on her landscapes with horses, riders, and even a few cows!  Her new pieces are on the wall in Scottsdale, and she will also be in the gallery from 3-5 pm.  It is important to see these artists continue to create and evolve even in the midst of the COVID crisis.

Sunday Sale-Day.....November 15

I didn't think this would be so popular, but our Sunday Sale-Day has certainly created its own excitement.  I put around 75 to 100 items on sale for one day.  They must be paid in full, and the discounts vary.  However, there are always some great values and opportunities.  Don't miss it this Sunday!

Upcoming 2021

It's hard to believe that 2021 is just around the corner.  Then again, I suspect most of us will be glad to usher 2020 out quickly.  I'm finishing up our shows for the Spring, and they will highlight contemporary painters and potters in the gallery.  We have a great grouping for our Heard Week shows and some other creative events that will be fun online and in the gallery!  They will be posting soon.

Thank you!

Once again, I wish to say how much I appreciate the sales, notes, and support and encouragement calls.  I have continued to make it a priority to purchase directly from gallery artists and encourage them to continue making pottery.  Your purchases help us make this possible daily, so that's a BIG thank you!

Please continue to Stay Healthy, and let's hope that in 2021 I will get to see each of you in Scottsdale or Santa Fe!   Thank you for helping us to continue our mission in trying times.

I look forward to hearing from you with any questions or suggestions.

Santa Fe: Mon-Sat 10-5
Charging Forward: Kaa Folwell
I'm very pleased to have our first gallery show with Kaa Folwell.  She is a granddaughter of Jody Folwell, the daughter of Poly Rose Folwell, and the niece of Susan Folwell.  Having watched her growth as an artist from childhood through her studies at IAIA has been a rewarding process. Her creativity continues to grow with each year. Her new body of work for this show combines many traditional Pueblo shapes with her stylized "graffiti" style designs.  What is new is the extraordinary style of cameo-carving she has created for these pieces.
Charging Forward: Derek No-Sun Brown
We are pleased to have Derek No-Sun Brown with his most recent India and Sumi ink paintings.  Derek said of this show, "Charging Forward":

"Charging Forward is how I've always felt as an artist and a Native American person.  Life and art should never be stagnant.  We are water that trickles down slow from a melting glacier, turning into powerful rivers carving through mountains and returning to the source to do it all again.  Everyone living right now on the planet is charging forward.  We are the future and the past combined.  We are alive."

Andrea Vargas: Outlaw
Andrea Vargas "Outlaw" is our first show with her in Scottsdale.  The new works focus on her landscapes combined with some pastoral scenes.  The vibrant colors and addition of figures on horseback create a dynamic series.

"Forward-thinking gallerists, museum curators, and clay artists themselves are fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Native clay arts. At the forefront is Charles S. King. Owner of King Galleries in Santa Fe and Scottsdale, Arizona.  He is considered by many to be the dean of contemporary Southwestern Native clay arts."
