Remember the email Michel Bret sent us on the day we should have returned from Meung-sur-Loire? We hope you found it interesting. The lockdown and lack of a visit this year hasn't stopped many of you getting in touch with or receiving communications from your families in Meung. It's the best we can do at the moment.
Michel has written and invited us to visit Meung in 2021. He has also asked us when we would like to visit. So that is something that we will have to consider before too long.
Planned Events for the rest of 2020
I'm sure that it will come as no surprise that our Twin Town barbecue has been at best postponed and possibly cancelled. The government is only allowing groups of six people from different households to meet up outside.
We are also down to host the teas at the High Legh Village Hall on August Bank Holiday Sunday. Their Website says " The planning has been done, so we can start up quite quickly if the "all clear" is given before the end of the summer". Patsy has contacted them and they are actually in the middle of that planning and deciding what they can do. We will make a decision on the teas when we have greater clarity and let you know.
If we do not run a High Legh Teas event then the committee will discuss whether a smaller social Twin Town event could take place on that date.
The Film Night is an indoors event and has been postponed.
The dates for the AGM and the "Beaujolais Nouveau" have not changed but we will decide nearer the time whether these events can run as planned.
The Dinner Club is obviously dormant at the moment. But please see the article below asking if you are interested in a picnic club whilst the weather is warm enough.
Anyone Interested in a picnic/Afternoon Tea Club?
The Government currently allows for 6 people from different households to meet up outside. As our social events and the trip to Meung have had to be cancelled, then we wondered who would be interested in meeting up in someone's garden. Each event would be limited to six people (just like the Dinner Club) and everyone would have to bring their own food, drink, crockery and cutlery.
It would be one way of keeping in touch with fellow members until we can organise events that everyone can attend. If you are interested then please reply to this email. You should also be contacted by a committee member to find out if you are interested in this idea.
