Our mission:
Providing resources for good jobs, strong employers, and a healthy regional economy

Staying Ahead Of What's Next

Month after month we have celebrated job growth and incredible employment rates across the state, region, and in our communities. The going is good right now, which is the best time to plan for when the going might get tough. In an effort to provide comprehensive workforce services to businesses and residents all throughout our 19-county region, Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas will soon be opening a new Workforce Center in Eastland! Stay tuned for more details and an official grand opening date. We are excited to continue working towards our vision of full employment by offering convenient access to programs and services for employers, job seekers, and families seeking quality child care. Helping Texans Succeed. It's our mission!
The 3rd annual What's Next Senior Event will be held on March 20, 2020 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Region 14 Education Service Center - North Campus in Abilene. Students will learn about industries and occupations, employability skills, financial aid, and college/career readiness. The event will also feature success coaching, mock interviewing, and Resource Room activities with representatives from community colleges, technical schools, military branches, and local organizations. What's Next has grown this year to include Charting the Course, a dedicated component serving students with disabilities offered in partnership with Region 14 ESC and TWC Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Lunch will be provided and space is limited!

Regional Highlights

Make the 2020 Census count! From hospitals to schools to workforce services, the Census helps shape our communities by determining how billions of federal dollars are spent. Partner, spread the word, or if someone is looking for part-time work, encourage them to apply to be a Census Taker!
We were saddened to learn of the passing last month of Cleve Whitener, Chairman and CEO of Lauren Engineers and Constructors. Cleve was a tremendous person, business leader, and man of faith. He was also a staunch supporter of the workforce system. Cleve was a member of the inaugural Workforce Board in 1996 and later served as Chair. Please join us in extending our deepest condolences to Cleve's family, friends, and staff.

High Demand Job Training

Through a partnership with the Roscoe Industrial Board (RIB), Roscoe Collegiate ISD (RCISD), Texas Workforce Commission, and Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas, students participating in RCISD’s Edu-Vet program are receiving training on new industry standard equipment and supplies! Receipt of the High Demand Job Training grant from the Texas Workforce Commission ($81,607) was made possible by the RIB who provided more than half of the matching funds ($82,940) to support this project.

Child Care Quality Initiatives

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas is currently working with eligible child care providers on a unique scholarship opportunity presented by the Council for Professional Recognition to renew expired Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials. This is an exciting program that furthers our effort to improve the quality of child care offered to families throughout the region!
At the February 19th Board Meeting, board members and staff screened the film No Small Matter, about the importance of early education. The full movie hits theaters this month. Check out the trailer above!
