Head's Blog:
Brief but spectacular

One can easily be mistaken in thinking that the Spring Term is relatively less demanding than the Autumn Term in that it is short; short it may be, but no less industrious. At Wandsworth Prep, we do just as much, but in less time.

What facilitates the broad learning experiences of all the children in our care, is the dedication and hard work of our teachers, without whom many of the children’s achievements would not be possible. Furthermore, the unrelenting enthusiasm and effort with which the children themselves approach school life needs not be overlooked and remains a key component in the wheel of success.

Throughout the Spring Term, Reception class has taken part in a project on pirates. The project has incorporated all areas of the curriculum – from learning about the life of a pirate and writing letters in a bottle in English, to creating maps in geography and visiting the Golden Hinde – all of which have provided the children with a highly stimulating and engaging learning experience, with their end goal being to locate all parts of a missing map in order to locate the treasure.

This term, Year 1 and 2 have been studying the life and artwork of Vincent van Gogh – a project incorporating history, literacy and art.

Key Stage 1 commenced their project by meeting Vincent van Gogh in his room. Surrounded by paintings, they met a sad man who felt his art was not good enough. Who was this man and why did he not think his paintings were good enough?

Our extra curricular programme is designed to enable the unique and natural talents of every child to be recognised and encouraged. View photos of our most recent clubs in action.

This term, Key Stage 2 thoroughly enjoyed their project based around Quests. This broad and adventurous project has enabled pupils to dive in to different stories and different areas of learning including geography, maths, art and history – as well as strengthening their problem solving skills and adopting a Growth Mindset when faced with challenges.
