Head's Blog:
State 'til 8?

In this digital age, online magazines and websites for parents of young children are awash with advice surrounding how best to educate one’s child. Debates range from the benefits of co-education to the advantages of specialist subject teaching in the primary phase.

In South West London, parents are even more fortuitous. Plentiful and easily accessible advice exists for those considering an independent school education for their child...

Golden Hinde Trip Supports Reception’s Pirate Topic
We Love Learning English!

As part of Reception’s project on pirates, the children recently visited the Golden Hinde.

The purpose of the trip was to bring the pupils' learning to life, aid understanding and support their work in class. It was also a thoroughly enjoyable day for all involved!

Here at Wandsworth Prep, we aim to make all our writing purposeful and have a variety of writing linked to our exciting enquiry-led projects this term.

In Reception, pupils have been set a challenge to try and find pieces of a pirate map by meeting pirates and learning about pirate life. This has included writing letters in a bottle and creating maps.

Find out what Key Stage 1 and 2 have been doing.

The Buddy System at Wandsworth Prep
Videos: Dance at Wandsworth Prep

Part of the magic at Wandsworth Prep is our family feel. Central to our ethos is that all children should be happy and feel secure; this underpins their success.

All children at Wandsworth Prep have a buddy. Our Buddy system helps our children feel valued and supported, it  encourages understanding and creates a caring ethos in the school. Through the Buddy system, children have the opportunity to subtly practise the values of respect, care, responsibility and friendship; all of which are life long skills.
In PE this half term, pupils have been learning about dance through a concept-based approach. The idea of a concept-based dance/movement programme was pioneered by Rudolf von Laban, a Hungarian dancer, choreographer and teacher and the founding figure of Central European modern dance.

Watch videos of recent dance lessons in Key Stage 1 and 2.
