Head's Blog:
New beginnings

If I were able, I would rearrange the Gregorian Calendar to ensure that New Year’s Eve fell on the 31st August. For children, teachers and parents alike, September marks new beginnings. Whether your child is four, eleven or eighteen, a new school year represents challenges to be relished and goals to be achieved.

Video: Using drama to enrich pupils’ writing in Key Stage 2

Pupils build camp at Forest School

We use drama as a tool to help us both fully immerse ourselves in our enquiry led projects and to enrich our writing. When pupils have emotionally connected to something and have used language and felt things attached to an event such as World War 2, the quality in both word choice and ideas are much more sophisticated.

Years 1 and 2 had a fantastic afternoon at Forest School last week and everyone was very excited about eating their lunch in the woods.

After a quick recap of how to keep ourselves safe, we trekked off into the woods to make our camp.

Reception pupils have had a great first fortnight, settling in beautifully into life here at Wandsworth Prep. Watch our video which shows some of the things they have been up to.

This week in Year 1 and 2 PE, we began our Football unit. To kick things off, pupils played some tag warm up games. We focussed on familiarisation with the ball, with a key focus on basic dribbling skills. Pupils learnt to keep the ball close, use both feet and look up after every few touches. They were fantastic!
