Head's Blog:
Small school, big opportunities

One of the dilemmas with which many parents are faced when choosing a school for their child, whether at the age of four or eleven, is size. The perception can often be that large schools, with cohorts of 80 or so pupils per year group, equipped with science labs and extensive grounds, offer children broader and wider opportunities than a smaller school.  In the world of business, it is not just big organisations that add value; the same goes for education.

Key Stage 2's Project Update
Science Experiment Highlights Importance of Washing Hands

Key Stage 2 are thoroughly enjoying their current project based around Quests. This broad and adventurous project has enabled pupils to dive into different stories and different areas of learning including geography, maths, art and history.

Take a look at our E-book to gain insight into what the pupils have done so far.

In Science, Key Stage 1 recently conducted an experiment to observe the changes that occur to slices of bread when touched with clean and dirty hands.

Teaching the pupils about germ growth through demonstration encourages them to fight the spread of germs through washing their hands and keeping work and play areas clean.

Watch a short video of the experiment.

Parent E-Safety Workshop
Video: Dance at Wandsworth Prep

We held a well-attended and successful E-safety Workshop on Monday 30th January, involving great discussion around the implications of the digital world we now live in.

Last Friday, we sent out letters detailing e-safety videos we consider to be worth watching with with your child, along with what we teach around e-safety, and details regarding the launch of Seesaw, our new home and school communication portal for Years 2-5.
Recently in their Dance lessons, Key Stage 1 and 2 have been learning about locomotion and non locomotion movement, movement that travels through space and movement that occurs on the spot. Pupils learned how - through combining different locomotive and non-locomotive movement - they can create different pathways and different dynamics. The pupils have been learning a set dance in order to to give them the experience of learning a set routine.
