Head's Blog:
Creating a happy school where individuals flourish

Broadly speaking, there are two types of school-leaver; those who leave very reluctantly, nervous about the next step, as school life has enriched them. Then there are those who exit the school gates, that long awaited day as, for them, school was a chore; school was something that was done to them, rather than a process in which they were fully engaged.

Video: Reception at Forest School

In our imagined world, Year 3 and 4 were commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Society to make Shakespeare more exciting for children.  We set ourselves the task of making our own company called, ‘Shakespeare’s Discovery Theatre 4 Kids.’

We decided to choose ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ as we thought it was the most accessible play for Lower Key Stage 2.

The children at Wandsworth Prep take part in weekly Forest School sessions on Wimbledon Common. Learning is brought to life by providing children with real experiences and by making their learning meaningful and purposeful.

Watch a video of Reception enjoying Forest School sessions this year.

What Is An Enquiry-Led Curriculum?

The WPS PTA are really excited to announce the launch of our new Facebook Group page, which we have set up so we can provide parents with regular and up-to-date information.

Wandsworth Prep's culture is warm, kind, inclusive and developing, and so are we as the PTA Committee.  We are here to support the school and organise fun things for the children and parents, as well as raise funds for both the school and charity each year.

Whilst emphasis is placed on acquiring firm foundations in English and maths, here at Wandsworth Prep we aim to foster a life-long love of learning, through adopting a cross-curricular, enquiry-led curriculum.

Watch our video of Head of Key Stage 2, Jo Fife, explaining how an enquiry-led curriculum works.
