Expert Voices: An interview with Lucas Mendes

Job recruiters in emerging markets increasingly are using online channels to attract and identify candidates. In Brazil, where online recruitment tools have not been used widely, their growing popularity is offering new opportunities for jobseekers and businesses alike, according to Revelo, a start-up B2B digital recruitment platform. Revelo’s co-founder, Lucas Mendes, explained how his firm uses artificial intelligence to make recruiting more efficient and how both job candidates and hiring companies benefit. Read the interview here.

Thought Leadership

Salah-Eddine Kandri, Global Sector Lead of Education at IFC, blogged about the importance of digital literacy in Africa

Alejandro Caballero, industry specialist at IFC, wrote about universities’ digital challenge in University World News.

IFC has supported Javeriana, ranked one of Colombia’s top five universities, since 2016 through our investment and advisory services. Father Jorge Humberto Peláez-Piedrahita, S.J., the university’s Rector, described the school’s philosophy as follows: “We do not want to mass produce brilliant professionals simply to meet the needs of the market. We do much more—we take students and form them into global citizens.” Read the case study here.

Tecnológico de Monterrey is a top university in Mexico that radically redesigned its educational model to remain relevant, becoming a disruptor in a world where the predominant industrial model of education could render universities obsolete if they don’t change. The university’s leadership aims “to develop leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit, and a social purpose, who are internationally competitive.” Read the case study here.

IFC invites leaders in private education from developed and emerging markets to join its 9th Global Education Conference on May 27-28, 2020 in Mexico City, Mexico.
