Prayers Requested
Hey, Friends! Over a year ago, Caralina began sharing about a young lady, Sharon, in a neighboring village who needed heart surgery. There have been lots of twists and turns in the story including possibilities of surgery in Sudan, India and Kenya. In the last few weeks, Sharon was very sick and it was obvious the need for surgery was desperate. However, the doors to all the possible places of surgery seemed to be closed. We continued to pray.
Friday, after sending Sharon's latest test results to an American doctor in Kenya, we received an email from him saying her heart looked very sick. Within an hour of that email, we got a phone call from that doctor asking if we could send Sharon there the next day! We praised God and scrambled to prepare Sharon, her dad, and a driver. They left Saturday morning at 7 am and arrived at Tenwek Hospital in Kenya at 5 pm. The doctor told us that two cardiologists had just arrived and were ready to assess Sharon as soon as she got there.
We just got word that open-heart surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. (12:30 a.m. Eastern US time). They will first try to shock her heart back into rhythm and then proceed to replace one heart valve and possibly two. We ask you to pray for the surgery and the recovery - the next 3 days are critical for Sharon! Pray especially that her will heart go back into rhythm as the doctor said this will help the rest of the procedure and the recovery as well. We praise God that He is the author of Sharon's story, and we can trust him as we watch it unfold! Thank you for your prayers and support for Sharon!
We will keep in touch and let you know how Sharon is doing in the next few days. Thank you for your prayers and for sharing this with others who will pray!
Serving Him together,
Mark, Amy, and Kids
P.S. Mark told Sharon's story at devotions with the GSF kids this evening. Sharon's heart is sick and needs to be fixed. That illustration led to the gospel message and two of the kids gave their lives to Christ this evening. Praise the Lord for using Sharon's heart to bring two more hearts to Jesus!
