Gwartney's in Uganda

Light of the World Church Baptisms

Our church in the village organized a baptism on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago.  Each candidate went through counseling and a class to explain the meaning of baptism.  Acts 8:36-37 summarizes the story of an Ethiopian man who eventually asked, "What prevents me from being baptized?" Philip, having already explained Jesus to this man, answered, "If you believe with all your heart, you may!" We were overjoyed to watch 11 people from the village and 11 children from GSF all profess their faith in Christ through baptism.  One incredible bonus was that several of us had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with some of our kids and lead them to salvation in the week leading up to the baptism.  To read a few of the stories of the individuals who got baptized check out Caralina's blog.

P7 Graduation

A pivotal moment in the Ugandan education system is the completion of the Primary 7 year (Seventh Grade). The national exam at the end of that year determines if a student can continue to secondary school and which schools they might attend. Every year, right before the exam, the school has a P7 party, which is a graduation and time of prayer for them before they take the exam.  We are proud of the six GSF kids who are taking the exam this year.  We would love for you to pray specifically for Kasifa, Chloe, Catherine, Eseza, Patience, Samson (all pictured above, L to R, with Mark & Amy) and the 27 other students from GSF Primary School as they take the national exam on November 3 and 4.
