Greetings from the Carolina Horse Park!
July has been another exciting and productive month at the Park. In addition to hosting another great WHES Horse Trial, we have received great equipment donations from local sponsors, forged a partnership with the NC State CVM and are busy preparing for our fall events.
CHP Partners with NC State CVM
The Carolina Horse Park is pleased to announce a collaboration with North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) and Southern Pines Equine Associates (SPEA) to provide veterinary services at the Horse Park’s signature events. This exciting new partnership will be showcased at competitions in the $20,0000 War Horse Event Series sponsored by Southern Pines Equine Associates and Adequan® and the Cloud 11 ~ Gavilan North LLC Carolina International.

As part of this new program a veterinarian from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine will be on the show grounds during each day of competition assisting Southern Pines Equine Associates. This will provide a unique opportunity for students from the CVM to gain hands-on involvement in competition settings, while being mentored by the highly experienced SPEA veterinarians.
July WHES Hosts Record Entries
Despite high temperatures, last month’s WHES Horse Trial and Combined Test hosted a record 225 competitors on July 17th. Horses and riders from up and down the East Coast flocked to the Park to compete in Horse Trials divisions at Green as Grass through Training and Green as Grass through Advanced Combined Tests. The experienced event staff led by Organizer Marc Donovan did a great job of running five dressage arenas, two show jumping rings and two cross country courses in order to help beat the afternoon heat.
Thank you to all the competitors, trainers and especially volunteers that came out for the WHES Schooling Day and Horse Trial, we look forward to seeing everyone again soon!
