WHES Continues to Attract Record Entries

The War Horse Event Series sponsored by Southern Pines Equine Associates and Adequan continues to draw rave reviews for its innovative and educational format, as once again the Schooling Day on June 13th and Lumber River WHES Horse Trials on the 14th brought record entries to the Park. Sunday saw 231 horses and riders compete in Green as Grass through Training level Horse Trials divisions as well as Green as Grass through Intermediate Combined Tests and Dressage Tests of Choice.

Thanks to two new cooling stations being set up by the finish of the cross country and the Stadium Jumping Arena, competitors were able to find reprieve from the high temperatures! (Thank you Dan and Angie!)

Message from WHES Organizers Regarding July Competition Format

Staying true to our commitment to promoting horse safety and providing competitor-and-volunteer-friendly competitions we want to try a new format at the July WHES HT next weekend which will help speed up the competition schedule and beat the heat!

The idea is to have a second show jumping ring and a second cross country course for Maiden and Green As Grass levels. If these levels can jump their courses concurrently with Training, Novice and Beginner Novice it would shorten the day by several hours. Their cross country course would run in the infield and top part of the course using the Driving Water, with the Big Water usable for the other three levels.

Hopefully this will allow the day to run more efficiently and accommodating a greater number of people. Thanks for the support and your ongoing dedication to the War Horse Event Series!

Sunburn Series HDT Provides Great Opportunity for Sandhills Driving Community

On Sunday, June 28th, the Moore County Driving Club held their Sunburn Series HDT and Combined Test. Drivers had the opportunity to come out to the Park and test their skills in dressage, cones, and obstacles; gaining valuable experience for competitions in the future.

None of this would have been possible without the dedicated volunteers that devoted much of their weekend to supporting this educational event. Thanks to all that came out to drive, volunteer and support the local community.
