The third annual Cloud 11 ~ Gavilan North LLC Carolina International, which ran in memory of Karen Stives, was once again a resounding success; with riders, owners, officials, sponsors, and spectators hailing the competition as one of the best in the United States. Nearly 500 horse and rider combinations competed over the weekend in international CIC one, two, and three star divisions and in national divisions at the Training through Advanced levels.

The world class competition was supported by $75,000 in prize money and other prizes, top hospitality, a live webcast of the CIC 2* and 3* on EQSports.Net (which can be viewed On Demand as a Full Access subscriber), and the popular Saturday night Spanning the Globe Competitors’ Party.

As the Executive Director and speaking on behalf of the Carolina Horse Park, I would like to extend a special thank you and sincere gratitude to the Carolina International CIC Committee, Subcommittee Members, and all the many volunteers for their incredible effort , the countless hours planning and executing, coordinating, painting, building, decorating, roping and all the countless other activities they worked so hard to produce this world class event.  They outdid themselves, raised the bar yet again to a new level of excellence and made an incredible investment in the Park which we appreciate so very much!

Ann Williams DVM Vet Station Ground Breaking

Following the completion of the CIC show jumping on Friday at the Carolina International, the ground breaking for the Ann Williams DVM Vet Station was held. The ground breaking was attended by Ann herself, along with many of her friends and clients. The station, which has been donated by Jo Ann Williams and Joe Agresta, will be extremely helpful to veterinarians treating horses at the Park and elevates the reputation of the CHP even higher!

Volunteer of the Quarter

Everyone at the Horse Park is pleased to recognize Nancy and Laurie Rose as the Volunteers of the Quarter. Nancy and Laurie worked tirelessly in the lead up to the Carolina International helping prepare the cross country courses including roping, hanging banners and painting many of the boldly colored fences.

Thank you to Nancy and Laurie for all your support of the CHP and we hope you enjoy your dinner generously donated by Ashten’s.

Thank You to All the Great CHP Volunteers

The Carolina Horse Park would not be able to host such great events this spring without the phenomenal army of volunteers. A special thank you to Vicki Reynolds, David Frump, and Jim Heim for all their tireless work in preparing for the Carolina International and Stoneybrook Steeplchase.

A record number of competitors came to the Park to kick-off the eventing season at the Southern Pines Horse Trials, March 12-13. Horse Trial competition was held at the Beginner Novice through Preliminary levels and a Combined Test was held for Beginner Novice through Advanced combinations.
