Greetings from the Carolina Horse Park!

October proved to be another great month at the Horse Park with a successful War Horse Event Series Schooling Day and Horse Trial. In November, the CHP will honor all the hardworking volunteers at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. This celebration will be held at the November War Horse Event Series Horse Trial where 2015's champions will also be crowned.
Thanksgiving Wishes & Thanks for Giving!

As the holidays approach, everyone at the Park has been reflecting on how great the last year has been, none of which would have possible without the phenomenal support the CHP has received. As we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving in just a few weeks, we would all like to say thank you and wish you a happy healthy holiday season.

In 2015, Carolina Horse Park experienced unprecedented growth and had record-breaking performances. Thanks to the outstanding support of the CHP constituency, highlights for the Horse Park in the last 12 months include;
  • Record crowds at the 2015 Stoneybrook Steeplechase with tremendous sponsorship, a great and safe day of racing and exciting new vendors and entertainment for spectators and families.
  • Worldwide live and on-demand webcasting of the Carolina International reaching over 25,000 viewers across 10 nations.
  • Multiple new Hunter/Jumper Shows run by Triangle Farms, Inc. attracting a new and expanded crowd of competitors and owners to the Carolina Horse Park.
  • Robust carriage driving competitions and training days bringing an increasingly diversified experience to our calendar and to our constituents.
  • The War Horse Event Series with extraordinary participation and support while also giving back to the Series charitable partner, Special Forces Charitable Trust.
  • Unparalleled economic impact from Park activities reaching over $4 million in 2015 according to the American Horse Counsel.
  • A new and expanded Board of Directors bringing increased fundraising, business, leadership, community involvement and equestrian knowledge and capability.
None of this would have been possible without the generous support of the Park’s constituency for sustaining our work at the Carolina Horse Park. Your generosity has carried us a very long way since our inception and we look forward to continuing to support the local economy, expanding community events, and preserving the quality of equestrian life in the Sandhills.

Volunteer of the Year Awards

The Horse Park has enjoyed a great 2015 with a robust schedule of competitions and schooling days enjoyed by equestrians from an array of disciplines none of which would be possible without the wonderful CHP Volunteers.

On Sunday, November 8th we will honor all of our 2015 Volunteer’s hard work and dedication at a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon during the War Horse Event Series November Horse Trial and Championship. Please join us in honoring the hard working Volunteers and find out who has been named the 2015 Volunteer of the Year and the 2015 Competitor Volunteer of the Year.

Volunteer of the Quarter- Denise Jones

The Horse Park is pleased to recognize Denise Jones as the Volunteer of the Quarter and thank her for all of her hard work and dedication to the CHP. If there is something going on at the Park you can count on Denise being there to help. A volunteer in many different roles, you can usually find her at the Stadium Jumping Warm Up overseeing the timely flow of competitors into the competition arena.  Denise is a favorite with riders, officials, and fellow volunteers for her dependability and her positive, can do attitude.

Congratulations Denise and thank you to Ashten’s for generously donating a dinner for two in recognition of her Volunteer of the Quarter Award!
2015 WHES Comes to a Close with November Championship

The 2015 War Horse Event Series sponsored by Southern Pines Equine Associates and Adequan comes to an exciting conclusion November 7-8, with the November Horse Trial and Championship. We have revised the Championship Qualifications to allow for more robust championship divisions. You are qualified for the Championship Divisions if you placed 1st - 6th at any of the previous four War Horse Events OR if you completed all four of the previous War Horse Events on the same horse in the same division.

Additionally, Horse Trials, Combined Tests and Dressage TOC are being offered for competitors not eligible for the championships.

Due to large entry numbers, dwindling daylight, and the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, the November WHES and Championship will run with a different format than previous events. Dressage for all divisions will be held on Saturday the 7th, with competitors still being able to school cross country and show jumping from 8am-5pm. An additional format change for the November competition will be that cross country will run before show jumping and a formal awards ceremony will take place following the show jumping for each division.

Visit the Competitor Information page for times, results and more.

Thank You to Huberth Farm Services

In October, Huberth Farm Services generously donated a Woods Brushbull Brush Hog to the Horse Park, which will be hugely helpful to Dan and Angie and the entire CHP facilities crew in mowing in the future.

Thanks a million Sandy & Harry for remembering the Park!

October Features Another Great WHES Weekend

The weekend of October 10-11 the Park hosted the fourth of five WHES Schooling Days and Horse Trials, and once again saw horses and riders flock the Horse Park. On Sunday, 247 combinations competed in Green as Grass through Training level Horse Trials, Green as Grass through Intermediate Combined Tests and Dressage TOC competitions.

The fun and educational weekend would not have been possible without the phenomenal sponsorship of Southern Pines Equine Associates and Adequan, and the great support of the CHP competition staff, officials and tireless volunteers.
