The past several years, members of the RPG team have participated together in a volunteer day to help local non-profits and schools.  We will be sponsoring and participating again this year on Saturday, April 16th from 8am - 1pm and we want to extend the invitation to our clients and friends.  If you are interested in working alongside the RPG team for a morning of raking, digging, and planting, please send an email to  He can provide more details or add you to our volunteer team.  We hope that some of you will be able to join us for this fun and fulfilling experience.  Children of all ages are welcome.

Again, we are thankful for your support and we invite any input to help make The RPG Planner more informative or useful.

Investment Commentary

The chart of stock market performance in February looks like a classic roller coaster.  Global stocks (MSCI All World Index) fell by more than 6% during the first two weeks but the mood of investors changed with the passing of Valentine's Day and stocks rebounded to end the month with a small gain.

Economic data during February was mixed but there were enough encouraging data points to revive the stock market.  Domestic manufacturing data improved, 4th quarter GDP was revised higher, and the highest core inflation gain since 2011 depicted a resilient US economy.

Strategist Tobias Levkovich describes well the current environment of low expectations and the not-so-bad economy: "There are risks out there and the world is far from perfect, but the constant drumbeat of interpreting all news as bad news is getting very old, very fast. An easing of such negativity towards a more reasoned sense of things not being that bad (actually okay, rather than really good) should allow for greater investor confidence.”

We encourage you to call or email us if you have any questions about the markets or your portfolio.  As always, you can reference the RPG Monthly Market Snapshot by clicking here for some key economic data points and index returns.

  • April 15th is also the deadline for making 2014 IRA contributions.  Limits are $5,500 for those under age 50 and $6,500 if 50 or over.  Make too much to contribute to a Roth IRA?  Consider the backdoor Roth conversion.
  • Did you turn 70 1/2 during 2015?  If so, you are required to take minimum distributions from your IRA before April 1, 2016.

  • Paribus is a new service that will automatically recoup savings if an item you recently purchased drops in price after the purchase.  Paribus keeps up to 25% of the savings but the service is effortless and can yield big savings.  For DIY'ers who don't want to give up the 25%, sites like and are useful alternatives.
  • Google Maps now makes it easier to search for cheap gas, restaurants, coffee shops and more on your planned route without leaving your planned route.  Here's how to use this feature.

RPG News and Notes

  • All news thus far has been good for expectant parents John and Lindsey Evans as they inch closer to their April due date.  We look forward to introducing their new son in an upcoming RPG Planner newsletter.  In the meantime, John travelled to a conference for a few days where he met Olympian Dana Torres and built a bike for the United Way.
  • We are excited and honored to be named one of three finalists for the Sandy Springs Small Business of the Year.  The winner will be announced at the 2016 Sandy Awards Gala this Saturday night.  Stay tuned.
  • Christian Mauser celebrated his birthday two weeks ago in an atypical birthday way - by spending 18 hours fixing an oil leak with his dad.  Happy Birthday, Christian.
