Inagural Trailbuilding At the new Candy Mountain Preserve
VOLUNTEERS ARE URGENTLY NEEDED
FOBM succeeded in our $1.5M Ridge Preservation and Trail Campaign! Thank you community! In summer
2016 we completed the acquisition to create a new 196 acre preserve on Candy Mountain.
Now we need the public to help us build a 1.75 mile trail to the summit of Candy. Here is Trailmaster Jim¹s latest report:
10/27/16 - An excavator team has made great progress digging out the new Candy Mountain trail. We now have about 2200' left to get to the summit.
Bruce Bjornstad sent the above picture showing the excavator on the upper right with Badger in the background. Although we have made great progress WE NEED YOUR HELP!
This is a great teambuilding project for your club or work group and will allow you all to be part of the inaugural Candy Mountain trailbuilding.
We have work parties most days, except for Monday, meeting at 9AM at the Westgate parking lot off of Dallas Road (Skyline Trailhead). Jim likes to know you¹re coming so he can plan the work but you can also just show up.
Contact Jim Langdon at 943-3992 or sign up by emailing : Trailmaster@friendsofbadger.org
The work will include cleaning up after the excavator, tossing out clumps of grass and small rocks, then smoothing the trail bed to make it ready to gravel using rakes and shovels. Volunteers should bring work gloves, snacks and water, and dress for the weather. Tools are provided.
Thanks for helping to build the inaugural Candy Mountain trail!
