The Weekly Blast ---- August 28, 2016

Welcome from the BHS Headmaster

Dear Brookline High School Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year at Brookline High School!  As the interim headmaster, it is essential that I help facilitate good home-school communication.  When I met with our PTO co-presidents this summer, we all agreed that my trying to include messages in the Weekly Blast makes a great deal of sense.  I will try to shift between nuts and bolts communications like this one with more inspirational and aspirational messages about learning and teaching, issues in our school community, and the excellent work our students, teachers, and staff members are doing every day at 115 Greenough Street.

Last week, we sent out some important communications that were included within an email about student schedules and the Aspen portal.  I want to make sure that everyone knows what we sent out and why.  Please use our Brookline High School web-site to check out our Information Book for 2016-17 and other school communications posted on the front page.  The Information Book is a vital resource for families as they navigate BHS.  We have included contact people and information, schedules, calendars, attendance procedures, schedules, maps, and much more.  It is a must-read for guardians and parents, especially those who are new to the the high school.

The Information Book starts with a welcome letter to students from me.  This is also posted separately on the front page along with three other school communications: an 8/22 welcome to the Class of 2020 from the ninth grade deans, Lisa Redding and Melanee Alexander; an August letter from our two deans of students, Scott Butchart and Lisa Redding; and, finally, a 7/15 update from me on hiring and summer labor at BHS.

Please know how excited I am to join many others in welcoming our ninth graders on Thursday 9/1 and all of our students on Friday 9/2.  We are working hard to prepare for school to open and look forward to collaborating with you, our parent community, to foster the growth and learning all our students are capable of and deserve.

See you soon,

Anthony Meyer
