Dear Brookline High School Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers,

Thanksgiving Week: 11/22-24
We slide into Thanksgiving this week - thank goodness. Here is our special schedule, courtesy of Mason Laboratories: http://bhs.brookline.k12.ma.us/uploads/8/0/1/5/801512/thanksgiving21b.pdf

BHS Athletics
I still am riding the highs of Saturday's division one state cross country meet in Wrentham and the boys soccer state championship game in Lynn later that day.

Our boys cross country team took second place and the girls captured fourth. Individually, Greg Auditore placed in eighth, Alex Peterson ninth, and Lucia Werner fifteenth - all medalists for Brookline High School. The camaraderie and race culture offered many sights to behold after a year-plus of so few in-person events. Our Warriors ran hard and fast, pushing their personal bests and also hung around in tents, eating.

Saturday at Manning Field, our boys varsity soccer team did something no other Brookline High School team had done (to my knowledge): win a state championship. It was an incredibly close game. The team stayed calm, the fans never lost their voices (not even Lyle), and BHS won in the second over-time with a beautiful goal.

If you missed the warrior state championship win, it will remain posted courtesy of play-by-play videographer and BHS Alum Jesse Mayfield-Sheehan. Huge props to Jesse, to our SuperFans and Ann Collins, BHS librarian, for riding the fan bus to Lynn and back. Brookline High showed up for a championship event and took home the trophies, medals, and elation. So fun.

11/29-12/3
As we return from Thanksgiving break, my team and I will offer updates on our midyear plans and schedule and our renovation and expansion project progress. The short version is that we're moving toward completion on various fronts.

Thanksgiving
I hope every one of us has time this week to relax and rejuvenate with family and friends and sometimes also on our own. It has been a busy first few months of school, and we are settling into the rhythm of learning and teaching. A little break will do us all a favor, providing oxygen for the short, dark days of December. We - can - do - it....

Take care,

Anthony

BHS Upcoming / Ongoing

MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE

B-PEN continues to hear that Brookline families are concerned about mental health these days, especially regarding our youth.  In fact, the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) have come together to declare a National State of Emergency in Children’s Mental Health, acknowledging the urgency of widespread challenges facing children and adolescents. While direct services are often limited, information and resources ARE readily available. Check out our mental health care list and  Mental Health Care in Adolescents on the B-PEN webpage.
