Dear Brookline High School Parents, Guardians, and Caretakers,

Happy Sunday afternoon. We return to Brookline High School tomorrow (Monday 9/20) for our fourth week - and our first full one - of the 2021-22 school year.

9/25 - College Essay Workshop
Our generous PTO continues to sponsor a free College Essay Workshop on Saturday 9/25. It is an amazing opportunity for seniors to receive support and feedback on their college essays and for the senior class to come together and make progress on a stressful element of post-secondary planning. For many years, I taught in the workshop along with other high school English teachers. Maestros extraordinaire Rob Primmer and Peter Sedlak carry the mantle and lead the workshop this year. I now have a senior myself and will urge her to take advantage of this awesome opportunity. (Links to register below)

9/30 Club Fair
We will remind students this week that our annual Club Fair during All Campus X Block will occur on Thursday 9/30. Clubs are a big deal at BHS: myriad options and always an opportunity to create new clubs.  Our annual Club Fair is a spectacle of students excited about their club and eager to welcome new members.

9/30 Back to School Night and early October Tour of BHS
On Friday 9/17, I wrote all BHS families via BlackBoard to share that our Back to School Night (BtSN) event on Thursday 9/30 will be live and virtual via Zoom. The event will feature ten-minute sessions with your student's teachers, some messages from school leaders, and an opportunity to meet our counselors, deans, and student support people.

We are complementing this virtual BtSN with the option to tour our 115 Greenough Street campus in early October. You should see the spaces where our children learn and hang out. Brookline High School is looking pretty beautiful lately - if a bit in-process what with Tappan Gym, Cypress Field, 22 Tappan. Still, the restaurant and science wing and its relationship to the Quadrangle is stupendous. We will recruit some young Warriors to show you around the place; they know best.

These seem like the crucial nuggets for BHS parents and guardians this week. I'll be out and about at as many athletic events as I can be in addition to an Innovation Fund board meeting and a ninth grade PTO meeting.

Take care,

Anthony

B-PEN's ( Brookline Parent Education Network)
PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS

B-PEN helps guide parents through common social, emotional, and developmental challenges affecting today’s teens and pre-teens. This lively volunteer group, composed of a wide range of BHS and middle school parents, meets roughly four times a year to assist in planning parent and community education materials and events.
