This Week at BHS

BHS 20/21 SCHEDULE (VERSION  2.3.5.23)

FULLY IN-PERSON OR FULLY REMOTE

The hybrid learning option will no longer be available after Thurs.  April 8.  Please read this  important message from Head of School Anthony Meyer.

By THIS TUESDAY, March 30 at 5 pm,  please complete this form to declare your student's learning preference (fully in-person or fully remote).  If you do not complete the form, hybrid students will be placed in fully in-person and fully remote students will stay remote. (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish translations are available.)

If your student needs support in making this transition, students and families may reach out to their deans, counselors, or other student support team members. They can help students make decisions, develop plans, and receive support along the way. 

WEDNESDAY'S MOVE TO IN-PERSON ON 4/28

Beginning the week after break (Wed. April 28), all Wednesdays will be in-person (for in-person students) and there will be a new schedule for all students. 
 

CANCELED: MONDAY & FRIDAY EARLY RELEASE 

The early release days on Mon. and Fri. (3/29, 4/12, 4/30, 5/10, 5/12,6/07,6/11) have been canceled.  These dates are NOW full-days. Tues. April 6 will still be a 12:40 release.

BHS SPORTS REGISTRATION

BHS Spring Sports registration is now open at this link (link to FamilyID at bottom of page).  The first official practice and tryout date is Mon., April 26.  Please register ASAP so coaches may communicate with candidates and organize prior to April break.  Reminder: physicals must be within 13 months current. The best method for expediting athlete clearance is to upload a copy of the physical exam form in the "Participant Information" section of the FamilyID registration. No payment until until rosters are settled.

LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL WITH JON MATTLEMAN 

SAVE THE DATE! On Tues., April 6 @ 7 p.m., Jon Mattleman will present Light at the End of the Tunnel:  Strategies and Resources for the Transitions.  A special parent presentation on how we can manage anxiety, optimize resilience, and keep our families in balance as COVID restrictions relax, kids go back to school, and we resume some level of normalcy. Bringing 35 years of experience as a therapist, he uses insight, warmth, and humor to share practical tools, tips, techniques, and resources to help guide us through challenging transitions to new situations. Specific details on this virtual presentation to follow.
 

GRADE 12 PARENT MEETING

THE POST-BHS TRANSITION -- WHAT SENIOR PARENTS NEED TO KNOW
Thurs, April 29, 7 p.m., Zoom link to come via email

Whether your student is heading off to college or the military or staying close to home for a gap year or to work, their transition from high school life will be a big change. The PTO and B-PEN present a special evening with BHS grads, guest speaker Dr. Anjini Virmani, and BHS Social Worker Abby Dean addressing this milestone from both parent and student perspectives. Current trends, safety tips, practical messaging about alcohol/drug use, and useful strategies for letting go while maintaining open communication will be covered.
 

SIGN UP FOR NOVICE CREW!

Announcing the start of BHS Novice Rowing season! No experience needed! Open to all BHS students in grades 9-12. The spring crew program is run through the BHS athletics department. Practices are after school and on weekends at the Charles River. There is a possibility of limited competition. Significant COVID protocols are in place to ensure athlete safety. The rising number of incidents of violence against the AAPI community reminds us all that we need to be active bystanders and supporters. The Brookline Asian American Family Network (BAAFN,  offers a information and resources for everyone. Please go here, for COVID-19 specific information.

BHS pooled COVID testing has been extended until May 7th. If your student is interested in participating in pooled COVID testing at BHS, please register here

SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING 

The Brookline School Committee will meet Thurs. April 8 at 6 pm. Agenda and Zoom link will be  here. There will be a public hearing on proposal to increase  in-person learning.

ACT UP & VOTE SCREENING

The Brookline Public Library will host Act Up & Vote! Virtual Screening and Talkback on Mon. Apr. 5 at 7p.m.  For more information and to register, go here
