Dear Parents and Caregivers of 2023 BHS students,


A few important updates to share with you!

Mark Your Calendars

  • Back to School Night- October 29 and November 12 (individual educators sending Zoom links to the parents and guardians of their students)
  • Expect cohort information November 3
  • B-PEN Class of 2023 meeting- December 1 @ 7pm


B-PEN Discussion Topic Survey

Mark your calendars for a special 2023 class zoom meeting led by B-PEN and our BHS student Peer Leaders on December 1 @ 7pm (zoom link coming!). 

Survey Results for our discussion with B-PEN are in. The concerns that were identified the most as areas where B-PEN might focus a presentation and discussion are: 

  • Social Connections 
  • Screen Time 
  • Mental Health
  • Social Media
  • Physical Exercise and Movement

Run and serve on the BHS School Council

Please consider running for a position on the School Council; it's an excellent opportunity to work with the high school administration, other parents, teachers and community members to be a part of and support school planning and goal setting for school improvements. The council meets once monthly, from 7:30-8:30am, via Zoom. For more information or to submit your one-paragraph statement of interest (telling us who you are and why you should be considered for the position of School Council) please email copresidents.bhs.pto@gmail.com  by October 28, 2020. We will post your expression of interest to the parent community via email. School wide voting via Google Forms will be from November 2 to 6th.

PTO Executive Board (October Meeting)

The PTO’s Executive Board met on Wednesday; we learned the following information that we’d like to share with you.

From Head of School Anthony Meyer and Freshman Dean Jenee Uttaro:

  • School preparing to welcome freshmen into hybrid learning next week

    • extra week was crucial for teachers to gain familiarity with classroom spaces, new technology, and schedule

  • Grades 10-12 slated to begin hybrid on 11/9

    • expect cohort information 11/3

    • faculty and staff will be learning as they go, working hard to develop new instructional methodologies 

  • Back to School Night will be held in two parts this year

    • 10/29: Live Q & A with administrators, plus prerecorded informational segments

    • 11/12:  Videos from individual teachers with information about specific classes

  • Kickoff of the PTO’s Annual Appeal

    • Raising funds to support grants to teachers, in-school and out-of-school experiences, invaluable programs like the Senior Essay Workshop, After the Prom Party, Teacher Appreciation efforts

    • Every parent/caregiver of a BHS student is a member of the PTO! Thank you!

Please let us know if you have questions or concerns you’d like raised or addressed at our next meeting, to be held in November.
