This Week at BHS

HELP OUR SENIORS CELEBRATE!

The PTO is putting on a PARTY for the Class of 2021 from 6-10pm at BHS on Tues. June 1st. Want to see Cypress Field, the quad, and Schluntz gym transformed into ‘Hollywood Glitz and Glam’? Additional volunteers are still needed to decorate, set up, and chaperone the party tomorrow. Sign Up Here!
 

PERFORMING ARTS!

One more student performance from the BHS Performing Arts department. Progressions Dance Performance, via Zoom webinar on Thurs., June 3, 7pm.  Find more information her:  www.brooklinefopa.org.  

FALL CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS

The BHS Cheer team will be holding Fall Cheerleading Tryouts on June 7, 8, and 9 from 3:30-5:30pm in Tappan Gym #2 (#66 Tappan St). To be cleared to tryout, athletes must be registered on FamilyID and submit a recent physical to the BHS Athletics Dept. No experience is necessary to tryout, and all rising 9th-12th graders are invited to try out! Email Meaghan_Cells@psbma.org, go here,  or stop by Room 368 on the 115 Campus for more information.  Go Warriors!
 

MCAS 

Tenth graders are required to take the MCAS on Wed June 2 (ELA) and Wed. June 9 (Math).  Eleventh graders may take the MCAS, but it is not required for graduation.  11th graders not signed up for the the MCAS don't have classes on June 2 & 9.
Ninth graders will have classes on June 7 and take the Science MCAS on Wed June 9

BE A FRIEND OF PERFORMING ARTS NEXT YEAR

BHS FoPA (Friends of Performing Arts) is a collaborative group of families, faculty and administrators that advances performing arts activities at Brookline High School through parent-driven event support, grants, and outreach. RESOURCES FOR NEW FREEDOMS AND CHALLENGES 

With June upon us and we leave May’s Mental Health Awareness month, it’s still important to prioritize mental health as we move into a time of transitions – end of school, graduations, summer plans, all in the wake of pandemic restrictions being lifted. Remember, “it’s okay to not be okay,” as we move forward with new freedoms and new challenges.  B-PEN offers parents and caregivers a wide range of information and resources at  the homepage of www.B-PEN.org and Mental Health pages,. CANCELED: MON. & FRI. EARLY RELEASE 

The early release days on Mon. and Fri. (6/07, 6/11) have been canceled.  These dates are now full-days. Wednesday remains an early release day and is in-person.

GREENZINE BROOKLINE SEEKS STUDENT SUBMISSIONS

Want to write an article about environmental happenings at your school?  An opinion article?  Submit art, photography or poetry with an environmental theme?  Is there a school project you’d like to highlight?  Conduct an interview? GreenZine Brookline wants you.

GreenZine Brookline invites K-12 students to submit articles and artwork for a new website that highlights news, views and more about climate change and environmental issues.  GreenZine Brookline is an initiative of teachers, parents and students in the Brookline Public Schools. If you have an idea or want help developing one, please fill out our short form.

SMART SUMMER 2021

Registration is open! Covid-safe and in person, Brookline Adult & Community Education is pleased to present SmartSummers 2021! Creative Arts, Basketball, Theater Arts, CyberSummers. All of our favorite programs are bubbling with excitement for this summer, and we look forward to welcoming familiar and new friends alike.
Please help us plan for enrollment by registering today! Options are available at multiple locations, throughout the day, from June 28 -August 20! Detailed information about programming is here. For assistance with registration, please call 617-730-2700, ext 0.
