This Week at BHS

HYBRID START TOMORROW!

This Monday, 10th to 12th grade students in the M/T cohort will attend school in a solid brick building.  M/T 9th graders will start cohort travel between OLS and 115.  For the updated daily schedule that includes the new lunch schedule, go to the BHS website
 

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT 2--THIS THURSDAY

Thurs, Nov.12: Phase Two of Back to School Night with Educator Videos.  
This will be an asynchronous experience featuring videos that teachers will make and send. They  will introduce themselves, discuss their courses, and share key information about student engagement and effort up to now and with the changeover to the hybrid model.
 

SEPAC MEETING THIS FRIDAY

The Fri, Nov. 13, from 8:30 am - 10 am will be the SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) 
The agenda includes SEPAC Survey results with Q&A, ESY Survey results, and preliminary plans for next year.  Zoom link to participate is here

MISS BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT 1? 

No worries. You can view  the Back to School 1 presentations here (passcode: KS?xh7cS).  BHS administrative and academic leaders  address hybrid and remote learning at the high school. It is different model than K-8. It allows students in the hybrid model to  to go remote at any time without any penalties if they or family members are ill or need to isolate due to exposure to the COVID virus. They also address the school's healthy and safety procedures for COVID-19

NEW PARENT WELCOME WITH THE BHS INNOVATION FUND

Welcome Event for BHS Parents and Caregivers of 9th Graders and New BHS Students
Thurs. Nov 19th, 7:00-8:00 pm

Hosted by the BHS Innovation Fund

Parents and caregivers of freshmen and new BHS students are invited to join an online event to learn how the Innovation Fund supports a culture of academic innovation at our school. Hear directly from Anthony Meyer and Jenee Uttaro, “experience" Experiential Physics and connect with fellow BHS parents. The BHS Innovation Fund is a community-supported non-profit that provides grant funding for BHS teachers to develop curriculum that is innovative and forward-thinking to prepare our students to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

NEED HELP WITH BALANCING BACK-TO-SCHOOL EXPECTATIONS?

Online learning can put quite a strain on family life as everyone juggles needs, schedules, and expectations. B-PEN (Brookline Parent Education Network, an outreach organization of Brookline Public Health and BHS) wants to help with parenting and wellness needs. What are your top concerns for which we might provide advice, resources, tips, presentations? Please let us know via ParentNetwork115@gmail.com. SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING 

The Brookline School Committee will meet on Thurs. Nov 12  at 6 pm.  Agenda and Zoom link will be here. 

The Subcommittee on Policy Review, regularly reviews and, when necessary, revises or creates written policies governing the Public Schools of Brookline.  The Policy Review Subcommittee currently has five policies/documents under review and welcomes your feedback:

Draft PSB Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Harassment, and Retaliation
Draft PSB Title IX Procedures
Draft PSB Yearbook Policy
Draft School Committee Norms

The School Policy Review Subcommittee welcomes your feedback on these draft policies. Please send any comments to school_committee@psbma.org.  

The School Policy Review Subcommittee will be meeting on Monday, November 9, 2020, at 5:00 PM (remote via Zoom) to review these documents.  The agenda, a meeting Zoom link, and information on how to provide comment in real time during the meeting can be found at this link.
