Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers,
I’m keeping this week’s Blast message relatively short. We had a busy end of the week with various Warrior games on Friday as well as the lovely Winter Concert in the Robert/Dubbs Auditorium and the STEM/Restaurant Commons.
Young people working hard at something they love - or at least like - is a marvelous sight to behold. Thanks for your encouragement and support of our Warriors, one and all.
Special Schedule: 12/19-23
We have a special schedule this week due to the 12:15 early dismissal on Friday 12/23. We’re then off through Monday 1/2 and return to BHS on Tuesday 1/3/23.
Midyear Examinations: 1/25-1/27
We will be having a midyear examination period from Wednesday 1/25 through Friday 1/27. Students will have at most two exams on any day in one of the five following subject areas: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and World Languages. We will share the schedule as we return to school in the year 2023. It is going to be great.
Slow-it-Down-Time with the Youths
Enjoy time with your youths. We don’t get a lot of this kind of slow-it-down-time with our kids. I am already grateful for a little break from BHS, from work, and even from the 2086 Warriors we all rally around most every day.
I wish you nice holidays and a happy new year.
Sincerely,
Anthony

A MESSAGE FROM THE PTO CO-PRESIDENTS:
We are excited to report that the BHS PTO is about 50% of the way to our $100,000 fundraising goal for the year. These next few weeks will be critical for us to reach our targets!
Please click HERE to donate!
If every BHS family donates $50 by December 31, we’ll make our goal. If that’s possible for you, please support BHS students and staff with a donation! If you can give more than $50, please consider doing so.
THANK YOU for helping to maintain such a special community and for your financial support!
We also invite you to follow the BHS PTO Instagram account for all the latest BHS PTO related news!

PARENT FEEDBACK NEEDED
The PTO is organizing an opportunity for parents/guardians to give feedback to the plan that BHS administrators have written to guide the school-based response to incidents of hate (racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, etc.) at BHS. Please keep an eye out in January for announcements in the Blast and from your class reps with the date and time for this event.
If you are interested in helping to plan and run the event, please email copresidents.bhs.pto@gmail.com.
WELLNESS SUMMIT REPORT AVAILABLE
Last week’s Wellness Summit sponsored by B-CASA (Brookline Coalition Advocating Substance Awareness), brought together roughly 80 people from across Brookline -- from PSB teachers, staff, and students to health care professionals -- to generate ideas to prevent/delay substance experimentation and use among youth. With a focus on protective factors and evidence-based steps to reduce use, destigmatize treatment, and promote well-being, the summit generated a wealth of productive new strategies to address major concerns on issues ranging from vaping to partying and consent. A summarized report of the findings can be accessed here.

SOCIAL STUDIES EQUITY REVIEW
The BHS Social Studies curriculum is undergoing an equity review, and parent involvement is a critical part of the process. There are two ways for you to engage with BHS faculty, students, and consultants in this important work:
• Respond to the survey that was circulated last week via email - click HERE.
• Participate in a parent focus group in January - fill out THIS FORM to be placed on a list of interested parents. Once the focus group session is scheduled, BHS faculty will reach out with more information. Please note that there may be space constraints, so filling out the form doesn't guarantee that you'll be called.
