Dear Brookline High School Parents, Guardians, and Caretakers,

This week was a fun one at ye olde Brookline High School. The Drama Society gave us a wonderful production of The Underground Macbeth from Wednesday through Saturday in the Robert and Dubbs Auditorium. In the world of athletics, several BHS teams won playoff games and fared well in other post-season competition. Having a doubleheader of soccer games at Parson's yesterday was particularly awesome. The youth showed up for their friends and peers. And, most of all, the actors and crew, players and competitors, worked hard, experienced success, and enjoyed it all. Feel-good stuff in Warrior-ville.

We have a four-day week due to Veteran's Day on Thursday 11/11. Later this week, I will share more details about our midyear plans, including a likely move into 22 Tappan Street, the mostly ninth grade building at the corner of Tappan and Cypress. Having all grades on one campus will be hugely beneficial to the BHS community and overall morale. Many staff members have spent two-plus years shuffling between the Old Lincoln School and our 115 Greenough Street construction zone . It's time to dust off Peaches and Herb, "Re-united, and it feels so good..."

More postseason play this week and a Camerata and Orchestra concert, in the Roberts and Dubbs, on Wednesday 11/10.

Take care,

Anthony Meyer

This Week at BHS

The PTO annual appeal is underway. PTO relies on donations from families like yours to fund our support of programming, resources, and teacher grants with direct impact on the learning and experiences of BHS students. If you've already donated this year, thank you. If not, please take a minute to donate now at this link or by sending a check to BHS PTO, 115 Greenough Street,  02445.

The BHS PTO is seeking an additional class representative for the Class of '23 and '25. Class reps sit on the PTO executive board and serve through the graduation of the class. Each class has three reps, so duties are shared and collaborative. If you are interested in being considered or want more information, please email with the grades and schools of your children.

The Sagamore, Brookline High's independent student-run newspaper, is seeking parents to interview for an article on the parent perspective on the transition back to in-person learning. If you are willing to be interviewed, please complete this form and a reporter from the Sagamore will contact you.

9th grade at OLS on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 8 and 9.
Grades 10-12 at 115 Greenough on Wednesday and Friday, Nov. 10 and 12.

Every student is required to get a photo taken--these photos are used for school IDs. Students will be taken for photos during class by their teachers. Families have the option to purchase school photos, if they like. To order school photos, go to this link before the picture date. You will need the Brookline High Picture Day ID: EVT4QMQZG
Again, ordering photos is optional, but having a photo taken is required. Orders placed online will be shipped directly to the student's home.

BHS Upcoming / Ongoing

B-PEN continues to hear that Brookline families are concerned about mental health these days, especially regarding our youth.  In fact, the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) have come together to declare a National State of Emergency in Children’s Mental Health, acknowledging the urgency of widespread challenges facing children and adolescents. While direct services are often limited, information and resources ARE readily available. Check out our mental health care list and  Mental Health Care in Adolescents on the B-PEN webpage.
