Dear Brookline High School Parents, Guardians, and Caretakers,

This week was a fun one at ye olde Brookline High School. The Drama Society gave us a wonderful production of The Underground Macbeth from Wednesday through Saturday in the Robert and Dubbs Auditorium. In the world of athletics, several BHS teams won playoff games and fared well in other post-season competition. Having a doubleheader of soccer games at Parson's yesterday was particularly awesome. The youth showed up for their friends and peers. And, most of all, the actors and crew, players and competitors, worked hard, experienced success, and enjoyed it all. Feel-good stuff in Warrior-ville.

We have a four-day week due to Veteran's Day on Thursday 11/11. Later this week, I will share more details about our midyear plans, including a likely move into 22 Tappan Street, the mostly ninth grade building at the corner of Tappan and Cypress. Having all grades on one campus will be hugely beneficial to the BHS community and overall morale. Many staff members have spent two-plus years shuffling between the Old Lincoln School and our 115 Greenough Street construction zone . It's time to dust off Peaches and Herb, "Re-united, and it feels so good..."

More postseason play this week and a Camerata and Orchestra concert, in the Roberts and Dubbs, on Wednesday 11/10.

Take care,

Anthony

MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE

B-PEN continues to hear that Brookline families are concerned about mental health these days, especially regarding our youth.  In fact, the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) have come together to declare a National State of Emergency in Children’s Mental Health, acknowledging the urgency of widespread challenges facing children and adolescents. While direct services are often limited, information and resources ARE readily available. Check out our mental health care list and  Mental Health Care in Adolescents on the B-PEN webpage.
