Texas Oral Health Metrics Summit

Please register as soon as possible for the Texas Oral Health Metrics Summit The Metrics Summit will be held on Wednesday, August 17 at the St. David’s Foundation Building and on Thursday, August 18 at the JJ Pickle Commons Learning Center. Admission to this event is complimentary, however registration is required. This event is filling up and space is limited.

August 17th:
Time: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Venue: St. David's Foundation
Description: A clinical standardization clinic will be conducted. Using a "train-the-trainer" format, the three Basic Screening Survey modules (pre-school children, school-age children, and adults) will be reviewed and data collection methodology will be discussed. Participants will be shown clinical dental screening approaches and asked to develop consensus. This session will focus on dental screener agreement on Basic Screening Survey data collection so that they may disseminate the standardized approach to their respective organizations across the state.

An evening reception hosted by the St. David's Foundation will be open to all attendees following the standardization session. Light refreshments will be served.

Time: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Description: The Texas Oral Health Metrics Summit is a convening of oral health stakeholders and thought leaders across the state of Texas. This meeting serves to facilitate discussion and collaboration in oral health surveillance and evaluation while providing meaningful tools that attendees can utilize in their respective programs.

A continental breakfast, lunch, and afternoon break is included.

The Lone Star Court at 10901 Domain Drive, Austin, TX, is located close to the J.J. Pickle Research Campus and is available at the government rate of $135. The cutoff date for reservations is August 5th. Directions for registration are on the TOHMS website. Should availability run out, please visit the  website for additional hotel options. The provision of dental care services will include monitoring and evaluating clients' oral health through regular check-ups; diagnosing dental conditions, infections, and diseases; performing dental treatment such as fillings, tooth extractions and fitting dentures, bridges and crowns; provision of oral healthcare education to clients and members throughout the community and the completion of related business tasks.

Must possess a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), or a Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree. Must be licensed to practice dentistry in the state of Texas by the Texas State of Dental Examiners.

Published evidence on oral complications related to substance abuse emphasizes that oral health care at various levels including education, prevention, and treatment should be integrated into general care services for addicts. This life changing, brutally honest program will give you the tools and information to effectively recognize the signs and symptoms of, as well as how to treat, the drug abusing patient. It will empower you to make a significant difference in their lives!

The Texas Oral Health Coalition invites you to submit a poster presentation for this year's Oral Health Summit.  Applications are open to professional health providers, educators, students, or anyone that would like to present information on their oral health program, project, or research.

Please read the Poster Presentation Guidelines and  Application for complete details and send in your completed application soon to secure your place and an opportunity to win a monetary award.

2016 Texas Oral Health Champion

The Texas Oral Health Coalition's Board of Directors are now accepting nominations for outstanding individuals and/or organizations who are dedicated to improving oral health in Texas. 

This is an excellent opportunity to show someone how much their work is appreciated. Award winners will be honored during the annual meeting at the Oral Health Summit, Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Austin.

All nominations must be submitted by: Monday, September 19, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. CDT.
