DUT VICE-CHANCELLOR AND PRINCIPAL LAUNCHES NEW SKILLS ACADEMY

As part of the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT) Grow-Our-Own-Timber programmes, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Durban University of Technology, Professor Thandwa Mthembu, officially launched the DUT Hlomisa Skills Academy on Friday, 8 November 2019 at DUT Hotel School, Ritson Campus.

The Hlomisa Skills Academy is part of Grow-Our-Own-Timber programmes that DUT has implemented in the quest for deliberate and effective talent management.

DUT’S FASHION AND TEXTILE’S NSELE WINS 6TH INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DESIGN COMPETITION

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Fashion and Textiles student, Andile Nsele has been awarded the Excellence Achievement Award at the 6th International Youth Design Competition (IYDC) hosted by the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology recently.

Nsele was chosen by his department to enter the competition. He travelled to China with his fashion lecturers and showcased his winning range titled, Ukuphahla.

DUT’S NOXOLO MEMELA IS THE NEW MACE DEPUTY REGIONAL CHAIRPERSON

The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT) Communications Manager, Ms Noxolo Memela was appointed Regional Deputy Chairperson of the Marketing, Advancement and Communication in Education (MACE), the appointment came during the MACE KZN Regional Networking and Empowerment Workshop in October 2019.

Amongst her many accolades, Memela was recently co-opted as an Executive Member of the DUT convocation, she has also served as an ANCYL Branch Executive Treasurer in the Moses Mabhida region. 2015.

DR CROSS TALKS ON PUBLIC PROMOTION IN A LOCAL AND GLOBAL CONTEXT

The Faculty of Health Sciences (Professor Nokuthula Sibiya) in partnership with the International Education and Partnerships (IEP) hosted a lecture by United Kingdom’s (UK’s) Dr Ruth Cross, at Ritson Campus, on 4 November 2019.

Dr Cross’s talk was titled: What Does Health Promotion Have To Offer: Perspectives From The United Kingdom (UK).

Her presentation explored what health promotion is about and how it sits within the broader field of public health.
