LEANDI MULDER WINS 2016 EMMA SMITH ART SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Leandi Mulder, a Fashion Design student at the Durban University of Technology’s Fashion and Textiles Department, whose collection is made entirely of second hand fabrics, won the 2016 Emma Smith Art Scholarship award.
Currently doing her Batchelor of Technology (B-Tech) degree in Fashion, Mulder says she has always been passionate about fashion and clothing.
The second Chinese New Year Concert, hosted by the Confucius Institute at Durban University of Technology in partnership with the Consulate General of China in Durban, the KZN Department of Arts and Culture, Sport and Recreation and the Durban-Guangzhou Sister Cities Association, took place at the iZulu Theatre, Sibaya Casino recently.
Last week, the HIV/AIDS Centre at the Durban University of Technology hosted the First Thing’s First Campaign which aims to help South African students fulfill their destinies by encouraging them, as future leaders, to be responsible, get tested for HIV and empower themselves by knowing their HIV status.
Endorsed by the national Department of Health, the HIV counselling and education campaign was first launched in 2011 and seeks to facilitate the transition to tertiary life, which may prove especially challenging to first year students.
