The sky is the limit for Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Masters in Human Resources Management student, Sheinna Mungroo, who recently featured in the international beauty and cosmetics brand, Maybelline USA’s website.

Mungroo (27), a Human Resources Consultant and Beauty YouTuber, received this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity after being approached by Maybelline New York to feature in their social media and marketing campaign. She currently features on the Shop the Look section on Maybelline’s website that explores makeup looks, makeup tutorials, and makeup videos with the best foundations, mascara, lipstick and more.

Aiming to improve ‘lives and livelihoods’ is what drives the enigmatic, Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Thandeka Hlongwa to influence and impact society by posting online through her social media platform on two pertinent issues such as HIV and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

SOKHETYE JETS OFF TO EUROPE FOR A TWO-YEAR MASTERS SCHOLARSHIP

Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Operations Management alumna, Anathi Sokhetye left for Hungary, Europe on Sunday, 27 September 2020, to start her two-year Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship.

She will be pursuing her Master of Arts (MA) in Business Development at the Eszterhazy Karoly University in the city of Eger, Hungary.

Her scholarship is a joint venture between the Hungarian and South African governments.

DUT’S VIRTUAL OPEN DAY A HUGE SUCCESS

The Department of Student Recruitment and International Office at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted a successful Virtual Open Day on Tuesday, 29 September 2020, to assist the current grade 12 pupils to make the right career choice.

Pupils from various schools around South Africa were offered an opportunity to communicate with the Student Recruitment staff via WhatsApp to seek information about the different faculties, departments and study programmes offered at the university.

The Open Day video was also posted on DUT’s Virtual Open Day page and also shared on the University’s YouTube channel to ensure it reaches as many pupils as possible.

DUT AND THE GANDHI DEVELOPMENT TRUST HOSTED THE SUCCESSFUL, 2020 ANNUAL STEVE BIKO SEMINAR

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) in collaboration with the Gandhi Development Trust hosted the 2020 Annual Steve Biko Seminar on Monday, 28 September 2020 via MS Teams.

The topic of discussion was on Social Responsibility and Democratic Citizenship Education for South African Higher Education Institutions (HEI): Cultivating Humanity.

Welcoming the guest speakers and attendees to the event was Professor Sibusiso Moyo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Engagement at DUT.
