DUT’S DR TILOKE RECEIVES THE BEST POSTER PRESENTATION AWARD IN FRANCE
The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, Dr Charlette Tiloke received the Best Poster Presentation Award at the NanoWorld Conference, which was held in Paris, France earlier this month (March 2019).
The conference explored a range of scientific sessions including, Life sciences & medicine; Energy & Environment; Nano-electronics and Nanotechnology applications.
DUT’S ZULU CLINCHES GOLD AND ASPIRES TO MAKE IT TO THE OLYMPICS
The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Thabile Zulu clinched the Gold medal in the Inter – Provincial Boxing Tournament which took place in Johannesburg early this month (March 2019).
The third year Business and Information Management student was representing KwaZulu – Natal under the 64 Kg category. She said this competition was very important as part of her preparation for the upcoming Elite National Championships that will take place in July 2019.

DUT JOURNALISM PROGRAMME RECOGNISES STUDENTS ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Journalism Programme acknowledged its students’ academic excellence during the recent Journalism Students Achievement Awards Ceremony held at DUT’s Arthur Smith Hall, City Campus in Durban.
Speaking during the event, the Head of the Journalism programme, Ayesha Mall, said this awards ceremony aims to recognise the academic excellence of journalism students.
DUT DOCTORAL ALUMNUS APPOINTED ACTING CHAIRPERSON OF ICASA
The Council of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has appointed Dr Keabetswe Modimoeng as acting chairperson effective from 25 March 2019 until a permanent chairperson is appointed. The appointment follows the dismissal on 20 March of Rubben Mohlologa by the Communications Portfolio Committee after he was found guilty of fraud and money laundering.
