THE FASHION OF “FALSE GODS” AT DUT ANNUAL FASHION SHOW
Intriguing, funky, sexy and extraordinary garments were showcased at the opening night of the Durban University of Technology’s department of Fashion and Textile’s annual fashion show, last night.
The three-day affair which commenced last night (Wednesday, 04 October 2017) at the Fred Crookes Sports centre, will see 36 third year Fashion and Textile students showcase their designs. The 2017 theme False Gods is all about imagination and creativity.
DUT JOURNALISM DEPARTMENT HOSTED THE 9TH ANNUAL GHANDI MEDIA LECTURE
Durban University of Technology’s department of Journalism in partnership with the Gandhi Development trust held the 9th annual Mahatma Gandhi media lecture at city campus on Tuesday, 03 October 2017.
In his official welcoming remarks Dr Sihawulele Ngubane, of Gandhi Luthuli trust said the gathering reminded them of heroes, heroines, civil rights activists and peaceful renowned leaders of protest in India and South Africa and around the globe.
The Durban University of Technology Confucius Institute in collaboration with the Consulate General of China in Durban, the South African KwaZulu-Natal Chinese Community and the Police Cooperation Centre and the South African KwaZulu-Natal Chinese community, co-hosted the annual Chinese Moon Festival at a gala event at the Sibaya iZulu theatre on Monday, 2 October 2017.

LUNGELANI MYENI FINALIST IN PG BISON I.618 COMPETITION
Interior Design, third year student Lungelani Myeni had a close call when he made it into the top ten of the PG Bison 1.618 Competition. Myeni stood a chance to win a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend the 2017 Milan Furniture Fair in Italy.
Myeni and his lecturer, Susan Barrett attended the awards ceremony which Myeni was to know his fate in whether his unique African characterised designs impressed the judges or not.

Empowering Public Relations Management students and encouraging confidence in not only themselves but their work as well, was the focal point of the “The Importance of Good PR in Various Fields” seminar, hosted by third year Public Relations Management Student, Nkululeko Mbatha at the Cane Growers Hall, ML.
After a win against Real Dolphin last month, the Durban University of Technology’s ladies team remains at the top of the log this season.
This is the second season in the SAFA eThekwini region league since the team joined during the 2016/16 campaign. Last season the team finished in the top six of the log. In their final match, DUT won by a whopping 3 goals to 2. The first and the winning goal was scored by jersey number 23 worn by Zethu Biyane who is the team’s striker
