ENACTUS DUT IS A CHANGE-DRIVER!

Enactus DUT (Durban University of Technology) recently hosted the Women Entrepreneurs Business Pitch 2020 online competition.

The online competition was open to all women business entrepreneurs of South Africa. The competition received 50 applications showcasing their innovative business ideas that aims to solve social, environmental and economic issues.

The programme was advertised on the Enactus DUT official social media platforms and participants were screened based on social, environmental and economic impact and qualifying ideas were invited to pitch to the judging panel of leading business women from various industries and companies via Microsoft Teams.

DUT’S STRATEGIC PARTNER, MOSES KOTANE INSTITUTE LAUNCHES VIRTUAL ENTERPRISE INCUBATION PROGRAMME

THE MOSES KOTANE INSTITUTE (MKI) hosted the virtual Enterprise Incubation Programme 2020/2021 launch on YouTube on Friday, 21 August 2020. Facilitating the launch was Advocate Thembelihle Mapipa, the Executive for Corporate Services at MKI.

In her welcoming address CEO of MKI, Thandeka Ellinson said the Enterprise Incubation is a new programme under MKI. She added that the development of COVID-19 has pushed the global community to innovate and do things differently.

GOUNDEN SECURES SPOT IN TOP 100 STUDENTS LIST OF THE ABSA GRADSTAR AWARDS 2020

Five Durban University of Technology (DUT) students have secured a place in the country’s Top 100 students list of the Absa GradStar Awards 2020. They are Kimendren Gounden, Sanele Hlatshwayo, Tiziano Gospodnetic, Nqobile Sibisi and Shrishti Maharaj who have ‘made their mark’ out of 8000 entries.

Now in its 5th year the GradStar Awards recognises the most employable full-time students in the country and is the only programme of its kind where thousands of students enter in order to be recognised by the top employers in the nation.

EVALUATION OF INTERNATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS WORKSHOP A SUCCESS

The Directorate: International Education and Partnerships at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) held an online workshop on Evaluation of International Qualifications on MS Teams last week Thursday, 20 August 2020.

The guest speakers were Tshidiso Konese, Senior Manager at International Student Recruitment, Admissions and Marketing at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and Nadina Coetzee, Director of the Foreign Qualifications Directorate at the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

FOAD HOSTS WEBINAR ON DECOLONISING ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE SADC REGION

The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Faculty of Arts and Design (FOAD) hosted a Webinar on Decolonising Entrepreneurship in the SADC Region, last Friday, 21 August 2020 on Microsoft Teams.

The two panelists at the webinar were Tando Mbanga and Advocate Tšeli Khiba from Webber Newdigate.

Tando Mbanga is a lecturer and postgraduate supervisor at DUT’s Fashion and Textiles Department. Her research work focusses on Arts Entrepreneurship Education, with a special interest in Fashion.
