DUT GCI TO ATTEND 3RD ANNUAL GREEN YOUTH INDABA


The Durban University of Technology’s Green Campus Initiative has scored itself an invite to the 3rd Annual Green Indaba hosted by Tosaca Media Group and the Department of Environmental Affairs. 

DUT GCI students will form part of the 300 exceptional young people who are changing the face of environment issues in South Africa and those that are aspiring to get into the environment industry.

DUT’S NOMFANELO MAKING WAVES ON LOCAL RADIO


Nomfanelo Dlomo, the new producer for The Big Bang show which airs in Durban based Gagasi FM, is not only a DUT Master’s student, but a two time cum laude Public Relations Management graduate from the University.

In 2015, Dlomo resigned from her job to pursue her Bachelor of Technology (BTech) studies, and little did she know that not only would she excel in her studies, but he career would take off with “a big bang” a year later.

UNDERSTANDING VIOLENT BEHAVIOUR THROUGH DIALOGUE


Understanding the reasons behind the unequal power relations between men and women, which contribute to the high levels of gender-based violence and mental health issues in our society, was one of the topics of discussion at the workshop, Dismantling the Chain, which was held at Steve Biko Campus recently.

The workshop was held by the University’s Employees Assistance Programme in partnership with the HIV/AIDS Centre.

A LOOK AT SA CITIES THROUGH THE LENS


They say ‘every picture tells a story”, and Peter Mckenzie has spent his entire career as a photographer telling these stories through his camera lens, including how cities can be inhabited and used.

Mckenzie delivered his perspective during his presentation with was hosted by the DUT Urban Futures Centre where he portrayed the image of South Africa and how its cities can be inhabited and used.
