PROFESSOR MTHEMBU HOSTS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR WITH HLOMISA AWARDEES
Motivational and thought-provoking conversations were the order of the day at Durban University of Technology leadership development seminar for 19 of Hlomisa Awardees at the Hilton Hotel on Saturday, 07 March 2020.
The Hlomisa Skills Academy, which was launched in November 2019, is centred around DUT’s pursuit for deliberate and effective talent management. The programme aims to nurture the skills of DUT younger people who have already proven themselves to have agency in their respective areas of endeavour.

Fulbright specialist, Professor Raj Sashti held a staff centred workshop on enhancing international opportunities through fellowships and grants, at DUT’s ML Sultan Campus on Thursday, 05 March 2020.
The Fulbright programme was established in 1946 under Sentor J. William Fulbright from Arkansas in the United States of America. The programme operates in 160 countries and awards approximately 8000 grants annually. Prof Sashti has helped more than 500 professors through Fulbright funding, to study, travel and meet new people.

DUT STUDENT HOUSING & RESIDENCE LIFE HOST INDUCTION WORKSHOP TO ENHANCE STUDENT LIFE
The Durban University of Technology department of Student Housing and Residence Life recently hosted an induction workshop for Residence Advisors (RA) and Assistance Residence Advisors (ARA) at the Hotel School, Ritson Campus.
The main objective of the induction workshop was to equip RA’s and ARA’s with information that will improve student experiences at DUT residences, in both Durban and the Midlands.
DUT HELD A DIALOGUE ON DECOLONIALIZATION IN UNIVERSITIES
An attempt to take action against the dismantling of former colonial systems within South African universities, the Durban University of Technology (DUT) together with visiting researchers Professor Jonathan Jansen and Dr Cyril Walters, held a dialogue discussion on the decolonisation of the curriculum, on Wednesday, 04 March 2020.
Prof Jansen and Walters, who are from the Faculty of Education at the Stellenbosch University, steered the dialogue session which formed part of their research on the uptake of decolonisation for the curriculum of South Africa.
