DUT’S VACCINATION THURSDAYS CONTINUES AT ISOLEMPILO CLINIC

The Isolempilo Clinic at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) is open for vaccination against COVID-19 every Thursday until the end of October 2021.

Students, staff and Alumni who wish to get their jab can go to the Steve Biko campus, which is where the Isolempilo Clinic is located. You can choose between the Johnson and Johnson vaccine or the Pfizer vaccine. Please bring your ID and student/staff card with you.

Senior Professional Nurse at Isolempilo clinic, Sister Sooriagandhi Wardthen advised those who require the Pfizer vaccine to enquire at the clinic.

DUT AIMS TO BE ACCESSIBLE TO ALL COMMUNITIES FOR GROWTH, MENTORSHIP AND PARTNERSHIPS

Given the importance on community engagement in higher education, academic departments like the Chemistry Department at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) have become more involved in communities in and around KwaZulu-Natal.

The Chemistry department launched DUT’s Bergville Science Programme at the Bergville Sports Complex last Friday, 1 October 2021.

DUT’s Chemistry Department, Student Recruitment and DVC RIE Community Engagement office in partnership with the UKhahlamba Municipality and the Bergville CMC launched the DUT Bergville Science Engagement Programme with the aim to offer Chemistry and Physics practical lessons to Bergville high schools.

DUT LAUNCHES THE NEW WEBPAGE AND REPOSITORY FOR THE CREATIVE RESEARCH OUTPUTS ON THE BEHALF OF THE FACULTY OF ARTS AND DESIGN

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Research, Innovation and Engagement Professor Sibusiso Moyo together with the Director of Technology, Transfer and Innovation (TTI)-Prof Keolebogile Motaung launched the New Webpage and Repository for the Creative Research Outputs, on behalf of the Faculty of Arts and Design on the 5th of October 2021 on Microsoft Teams.

Prof Motaung said this was one of the most exciting moments to have this launch of this creative initiative on the behalf of the Faculty of Arts and Design.

PROF BISETTY TALKS ALL THINGS COMPUTATION CHEMISTRY IN HIS INAUGURAL LECTURE

The academic excellence of Professor Krishna Bisetty who currently leads the Computational and Bio-Analytical Research Group at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) and holds a flagship project at the Center for High Performance Computing (CHPC) was celebrated during his inaugural lecture on Friday, 1 October on Microsoft Teams.

Various DUT academics, DVCs and executives gathered to commemorate the milestone in the life of Prof Bisetty, namely Prof Moyo: Deputy Vice Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Engagement, Prof Nokuthula Sibiya: Deputy Vice Chancellor: Teaching and Learning and the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Prof Suren Singh.

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) continues to commend all its essential workers for their dedication and commitment in providing services to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. DUT’s Communications team’s Waheeda Peters spoke to Dr Olugbenga (Benga) Aderibigbe, the Online Distance Learning (ODL) Executive Project Coordinator at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT).

Q: Kindly tell me about your role at DUT?
A: “My role is to lead the implementation of fully online distance learning at the University and as part of that role I manage all aspects of the contractual relationship between the University and its private sector Open and Distance Learning (ODL) implementation partner.
