Ms Nonkululeko Nyembezi

DURBAN UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY TO INAUGURATE NEW CHANCELLOR

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) will host the inauguration and investiture of its new Chancellor, Ms Nonkululeko Nyembezi on 23 March 2018 at Fred Crookes Sport Centre, Steve Biko Campus. Her term of office will run from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2022.

In attendance will be invited guests in academia, government leaders, business leaders and representatives from labour and civil society.
Nyembezi is a trailblazer and an astute entrepreneur who is widely respected for her business acumen.

The Peace Forest initiative

DUT CELEBRATES HUMAN RIGHTS DAY WITH ACTION

The Peace Forest initiative at Lindelani, Ntuzuma, sprang into action on Human Rights Day, 21st March 2018, when participants and staff of the Durban Leadership Programme came to plant trees and discuss with the local community the possibilities for this project.

The first task was the planting of indigenous trees suited to the area, as well as fruit trees, on the steep hillsides next to the stream that runs through the forest. This involved also bringing water up from the stream.

Ntuthuko Mchunu

DUT STUDENT TO PARTICIPATE IN A GLOBAL YOUTH SUMMIT IN THE NETHERLANDS

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) student, Ntuthuko Mchunu is excited to be selected as one of the young emerging leaders to participate in the One Young World Summit, where he will share best international leadership practices with fellow young global leaders.

The One Young World Summit is scheduled to take place at The Hague, Netherlands, from 17 to 20 October 2018. In attendance will young leaders from 196 countries.

DUT Dancing

PUT ON YOUR DANCING SHOES AND JOIN THE CLUB

If you love dancing, many are in for a great treat as one of the sports codes at the Durban University of Technology on offer is dancing.

The DUT dance club is open to all students, staff and anyone who loves gliding to the sound of music. The forms of dance include Ballroom dancing and Latin American dancing.

Ballroom dancing is a set of partner dances, which are enjoyed both socially and competitively around the world.
