DUT STAFFER APPOINTED TO NATIONAL FACULTY WORKING COMMITTEE
Pragasen Pillay, DUT Arts and Design Faculty Officer, was recently invited to form part of a small working group that would review the Best Practice for Faculty Administration in Higher Education Institutions document. The working group is comprised of eight representatives from universities across South Africa such as UKZN, VUT, UJ and UFS.
DUT postgraduate students recently held their first consultative meeting with Professor Ahmed Bawa, DUT Vice- Chancellor and Principal, along with Faculty Deans and Research Co-ordinators.
The meeting, which was a platform for the University’s postgraduate students to raise concerns regarding their work and the institution, was held at the University’s Hotel School Conference Centre.
DR ZWELI MKHIZE CALLS FOR CALM DURING PUBLIC PROTESTS
The life of Archie Gumede, the late anti-apartheid activist, was celebrated at DUT recently, during which Dr Zweli Mkhize, ANC Treasurer-General strongly condemned acts of violence during public protests.
Dr Mkhize was speaking at DUT during the Archie Gumede Memorial Lecture in which he was the keynote speaker.
The Faculty of Management Sciences recently hosted its orientation day for first year Hospitality, Catering and Hotel Management students.
The orientation was more about educating, empowering and enriching young minds with the wealth of knowledge about the career path that they have chosen and also letting them know about the career opportunities that they can explore after completion.
