DUT VICTORIOUS AT GCI AWARDS


The Durban University of Technology’s Green Campus Initiative (GCI) proved to be victorious again at the 5th Annual Green Campuses Conference held at the University of Western Cape.

Held from 3 to 7 July 2016, the conference was attended by 50 DUT representatives. From that number, 35 were GCI members, five were House Committee members and 10 were Residence Advisors.

Green Energy for rural areas in South Africa

TALKING GREEN ENERGY FOR RURAL AREAS


Despite load shedding being halted in South Africa, this year (2016) due to additional generation plant grids, South African researchers are still hard at work in a bid to find solutions to the power shortage issues plaguing the country, especially in rural areas.

DUT HOSTS INTERNATIONAL GUESTS FROM J&J


The Faculty of Applied Sciences at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted a guest lecture which was presented by Seema Kumar, Vice President of Innovation, Global Health and Policy Communication at Johnson & Johnson (J&J), on Monday (18 July 2016). Ms Kumar is based in New Brunswick in the USA and her responsibilities include communications regarding enterprise innovation, medical safety and ethics, policy, and global health.

TEN COMMANDMENTS OF PUBLISHING IN TOP TIER JOURNALS

The DUT Journal of Green Economy and Development (JGDE) Conference kicked off on Wednesday (13 July 2016) this week where among many topics concerning the green economy and sustainability, delegates were also educated on how to get their academic papers published in top tier journals.

Themed: Advancing new thinking on sustainability and wellbeing, the JGDE conference is being organised and co-ordinated by DUT’s Journal of Green Economy and Development (JGED).
