DUT TO IMPROVE ACCESSABLITY FOR STUDENTS LIVING WITH DISABLITIES IN 2020
During the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) second annual State of the University Address recently, Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Thandwa Mthembu announced that a budget has been allocated for priority projects that will improve access for individuals with disabilities in 2020.
Students at DUT have ranging disabilities, which include those of a physical or sensory nature, as well as those with specific learning disabilities. These individuals often encounter difficulties with transportation and academic friendly venues, amongst other issues.

The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Department of Student Recruitment in collaboration with uMkhomazi Circuit hosted the uMkhomazi Circuit Matric Award Ceremony, on Friday, 28 February 2020 at uMnini Thusong Service Centre, Umgababa.
The award ceremony was to recognise and acknowledge educators who did exceptionally well in producing good NSC results for the circuit.

DUT YOUNG LEADERS TALK ON THEIR EXPERIENCE AT THE SECOND COMMONWEALTH FUTURES WORKSHOP IN INDIA
As the Durban University of Technology (DUT) embarks on an envisioned 2030 strategic journey, a vital aspect entails improving the lives and livelihoods of the students in terms of obtaining opportunities to participate and give their input in workshops at local and international levels.
Three DUT students were recently given the opportunity to interact with international students, having participated in the second Commonwealth Futures workshop, at the OP Jindal Global University, India, in February 2020.
“Dream as if you will live forever, live as if you will die today,” is the affirmative belief is of third-year Journalism student Sama Jobe, who has adopted this into his life. Consequently, his hard work and dedication has resulted in his nomination for Best Media Personality at Durban’s 031 Awards ceremony taking place on Saturday, 25 July 2020, at Westville’s Civic Centre, Durban.
Jobe who describes himself as a jack of all trades in the entertainment industry, decided to pursue a National Diploma in journalism in order to follow his dream of becoming a news reader.
