National Citizen Service improves CDA Community Garden

Many thanks to the Young People from NCS for their excellent work over the last few weeks in this scorching summer, improving our Community Garden and transforming our Garden Shed. NCS is a national scheme for 15 to 17 year-olds providing them with a 3-4 week experience that helps build confidence and self belief. Live away from home, develop skills, meet amazing people and do something good for the community.

Rural Broadband Boost for Businesses and Communities

Rural businesses and communities are set to benefit from improved broadband access as part of a £45 million boost by the government. The new funding for the government’s Rural Broadband Infrastructure Scheme adds to the £30 million investment announced last year, increasing the total pot of funding available to £75 million. The money will be made available through grants to local authorities that have already applied for funding, in areas where broadband services at speeds of 30Mbps or faster are not available or planned. The funding will be used to support full fibre wherever possible.

Save water, save wildlife

It's been hot, hot, hot recently. Whilst this has meant long, lazy summer evenings and days filled with butterflies and dragonflies, our rivers and lakes have taken a real hit from the high temperatures and weeks without rain.
Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust want to spread the message that the more water we use, the less water there is for our chalk streams and rivers.  This has huge effects on our local wildlife from our already threatened water voles, to the brightly coloured kingfisher.

Parish and Village News - Anstey, Meesden & Brent Pelham

This month we feature a remote corner of East Hertfordshire described in 1970 as "almost completely untouched by 20th Century development" and that's how they would like to keep it according to the Anstey Village website.

Worth mentioning in this month's issue is the Herts & Essex Country Fair – Brent Pelham – Sunday 19th August 2018
featuring the Dog and Heavy Horse Show and takes place in The Park, Brent Pelham, SG9 0AT. It is a traditional, local, Country Fair which provides an entertaining day out for all the family.

If you would like to be featured in this eBulletin please send us a copy of, or a link to, your Village or Parish Newsletter or contact office@cdaherts.org.uk
