MISSION UPDATE

Have you heard of positive and negative affect? We've been thinking a lot of it, after we learned that one of our programs will be closing down its doors at the end of this year and another will be taking a huge leap forward in growing it's operations. Positive and negative affectivity not only plays a large role in our day-to-day experience and our enjoyment, our affectivity can also influence our opinions, thoughts, performance, abilities, and even our brain activity. Positive and negative affects are not necessarily linked, and it is possible to increase your level of positive affect. If you struggle with low positive affect or high negative affect that interrupts or intrudes on your life, there is hope! At 1 FUR 1 Foundation we found that at least 70% of the people we serve have experienced cognitive, emotional and physical benefits from our free-of-charge animal assisted therapy and activities. Therefore, we're committed to helping animal assisted programs survive, thrive and spread healing powers to more people in need, always free-of-charge.

ANIMAL ASSISTED ACTIVITY

This pandemic has claimed millions of innocent lives as well as business and nonprofits. Our partner since 2017, Furry Friends Recovery is closing its doors at the end of this year because schools in low income areas of Illinois and Missouri, haven't had the bandwidth to accept external programs even thou they're free-of-charge. We're devastated by this news as this life-changing program offered over 11,680 disabled students an opportunity to feel joy, learn and connect with loving therapy dogs.

ANIMAL ASSISTED THERAPY

One of 1 FUR 1's animal assisted therapy programs has helped over 12,000 child crime victims go through the judicial process in Michigan since we started working together in spring of 2017. Three new canine advocates have joined the pack which will be joining forces with a much larger nonprofit called CARE House, at the end of this year. This acquisition will allow for rapid expansion of services and ability to serve more children in need. "Together we will be stronger then apart" - said Michelle.Djonova, founder of 1 FUR 1 Foundation.
