HOW TO SUCCEED AT WEIGHT-LOSS
This week we continue in our series on healthy Weight-Loss. We all know that in order to lose weight, WE are going to have to CHANGE. There's no way around this fact, but that is what we want, isn't it? We want to change, we're tired of being over-weight with all the health issues associated with it, and we want to be "slim and trim", or at least a few sizes smaller!
Change can be good, and change is often needed. According to Dr. Brandon Nielsen, there is a Triad of Change, which includes three important components necessary for true and lasting change:
Accountability: Have someone to whom you will be accountable to on a regular basis. This person will keep you focused on what you need to do and help coach you in what you need to change.
Alimentation: This is studying and learning new concepts, and ideas, and it includes being nurtured and supported through the changing process. This helps one change their mind so that their habits can be changed.
Assignments: This is homework–the actual work that it takes to reach your goals. No real change can happen if we do not work for it.
This Triad of Change is true in all areas of our life, including weight-loss. Winging it and trying to do it on your own, may work, but more often than not, it doesn't. Then one is discouraged and has a hard time trying again.
